I haven't added anything to the blog in months now and I'm somewhat shamed of it. The NFL lockout could have had something to do with it, but then it ended, and well I'm still slacking.

However, I did come across this video today and I'm amazed. It's the first of it's kind and if it is real, is absolutely incredible.

I am obviously skeptical for many reasons. Such as the ball hits the exact same spot on the first bounce-back every single time, which in baseball is close to impossible.

Fake or not, at least it's not the basketball shots we have all seen before from on top of buildings or across cities.

Wellp, the Redskins made the expected decision of moving away from their 10th overall pick. But was it for the better.

They added another second round pick, #49, in exchange for the six spot move. But the Redskins have miserably failed in recent years when drafting after the first round.

The move was surprising and I thought was smooth...until they took Ryan Kerrigan. The man has too many questions, especially if they plan on transitioning him to a 3-4 linebacker, instead of the end rusher he's used to being.

Here's a quick bio:
College: Purdue
Height/Weight: 6'4'',267 lbs.
2010 Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year

Stats:
35 games started
210 tackles, 57 for a loss
33.5 sacks
Big Ten's all-time leader in forced fumbles

It's obvious Kerrigan struggles in the open field, and this is just when he's chasing down a not-so-mobile quarterback. If he's dropping back in coverage against tight ends or receivers, it could be trouble.

Hopefully the Redskins hope to keep him at defensive end where he fires off the ball and reeks havoc in the backfield. One thing is for sure and it's that this kid has an incredible motor and will go all out on every down.

I look forward to seeing him turn into the man the Redskins want him to be and I'll be one of his biggest fans during the ride.

top ten #10 draft picks

We're officially two days away from draft day at Radio City Music Hall people! That means about four more days of mock drafts, mocking mock drafts, Mel Kiper, rumors, Jon Gruden's QB camp, and other meaningless things that everybody will predict wrongly.

Since the Redskins are picking at the #10 spot come Thursday night, it only seems right to do a top 1o draft picks selected at the highly controversial spot. Since the merger in 1967, there have been 44 players selected at the 10 spot, and honestly, coming up with 10 of the best was rather difficult.

Most of the players I have never heard the name mentioned in my life, while others have won Super Bowls, or reached the Hall of Fame. Another reason why this spot in the draft is a sketchy one.

Let's get started!

10. Ken Burrough (1970, New Orleans Saints)
This man played in 12 NFL seasons with both the Saints and Houston Oilers. He reached the pro bowl twice and was the leagues leading receiver in 1975. Perhaps the most important thing about Ken is he is the only player on this list to wear the number 00.

9. Al Toon (1985, New York Jets)
There's nothing looney about about this player, a three-time pro bowl wide receiver who retired at the age of 29. Why so soon? The guy racked up nine concussions during his time in professional football! However, during the 1988 season, he led the league with 93 receptions. But I guess after nine concussions, you start to see a lot of tweetie birds.

8. Willie Anderson (1996, Cincinnati Bengals)
Offensive Tackle from the University of Auburn, played 12 strong seasons in the NFL with two teams, four pro-bowl appearances, and started 173 out of 181 games. Is there much more to say about an offensive lineman?

7. Jerod Mayo (2008, New England Patriots)
I understand this guy has only been in the league for three years now, but he has accomplished a good amount and is on his way to probably be the best linebacker ever picked at the number 10 spot. He was the rookie of the year for his class and was named to the all-pro team in 2010. I see good things coming for the 25 year old.

6. Chris McAlister (1999, Baltimore Ravens)
His career took a downward spiral after the 2006 season, but before then, this Arizona alumni could be considered one of the best shut down corners during his day. He went to Hawaii three times and won two super bowls, each with a different team. He also set the record for longest play in NFL history with a 107 yard botched field goal return, which eventually was broken by Antonio Cromartie.

5. Terrell Suggs (2003, Baltimore Ravens)
Another player drafted by the Ravens who played his college ball in Arizona. Suggs, in my opinion, is one of the best dual threat linebackers in the league. Whether he's sacking Big Ben or dropping back in coverage, he's one of the more feared players in the league. With the defensive rookie of the year award and four pro-bowls, Suggs lands in fifth on this list.

4. Herman Moore (1991, Detroit Lions)
I know what you're thinking...what is a guy with the name Herman doing on this list...and who the heck is he?! Well, he's perhaps the best Lions receiver in history. He holds team records for receptions, yards, and touchdowns. He was with the team for six playoff appearances, four pro-bowls, and was the second receiver (behind Jerry Rice) to have three 100-catch seasons. He was a three-time all-pro selection, and has the best name of any number 10 pick...ever.

3. Jerome Bettis (1993, Los Angeles Rams)
Finally! Somebody actually historic on this list! "The Bus" finished a remarkable career where he was born, in Detroit Michigan, winning a super bowl title with the Steelers. He made his mark on the record books as he sits in fifth for all-time rushing yards. He saw six pro-bowls, two All-Pro selections, the 1996 comeback player of the year award, the 2001 Man of the Year award, and many more accomplishments. Easily goes down as one of the best ever.

2. Marcus Allen (1982, Los Angeles Raiders)
You could make the argument that Bettis deserves this spot over Allen, and I wouldn't disagree, but for now just go with it. This hall of famer was one of the best power backs of all time, similar to Bettis, but Allen was the first to ever rush for 10,000 yards, and catch for 5,000. Not to mention, he was 12-27 passing with 285 yards and six touchdowns. Winning!

1. Rod Woodson (1987, Pittsburgh Steelers)
"Rod is God" of this list as he lands the at the top of this list for the best EVER drafted tenth overall. Let's look at it this way: 11 pro-bowls, six All-Pro selections, 1993 Defensive Player of the Year, 1990's All-Decade Team, 71 interceptions (3rd all-time), 12 interceptions returned for touchdowns (most all-time), and the list goes on-and-on. He won a Super Bowl in his final season with the Raiders as he led the league in interceptions at the age of 37. He was a ball hawk and one scary son of a gun.

Obviously the talent on this list is very scattered. The top three are the only deserving players on this list, but I added seven more for your viewing pleasures.

If you were to ask me, I'd say the Redskins need to trade out of this spot pronto. The chances of a big time player being available is slim to none. So trade up, down, left or right, just get out of there!

attention: ignore all quarterbacks

The NFL draft is now 10 days away and I haven't posted in over a month, I think this calls for a good time to get back on track.

The question since before 2010 ended has been will the Redskins pursue a quarterback in the first round with their relatively early pick. The answer most people, such as Mel Kiper, have come up with is yes, but people, this is not a good idea!

Let's review, shall we?

Immediately following the college football season, the only quarterback creating ANY buzz regarding an NFL transition was Andrew Luck. But guess what, he did the smart thing and decided to stay at Stanford for another year. Where was Blaine Gabbert? Cam Newton? Jake Locker or Ryan Mallett? That's right....nobody cared!

But somehow since football has ended, quarterbacks have climbed the draft board. This is something I have a major problem with. People are caring more about how people act in things like the combine, team workouts, or intangibles such as personalities and they are forgetting about how these players looked in an actual game against college competition.

Blaine Gabbert heads the pack for this years quarterbacks and it's quite unfortunate. He declined in production from over his final two years, much like Jake Locker. Gabbert often looked flustered in the pocket when faced with a blitz and would overthrow many receivers. Not too mention he's the typical college QB who only played in a spread-shotgun system, and the fact he only averaged 6.7 yards with every completion is dangerous. He has no experience working under center which is a huge part of the NFL.

Cam Newton is the only semi-worth it player in this group. His numbers are not too be argued against and his ability to deal with pressure is proven through the whole incident with his father and Auburn. But again, has shown inaccuracy and he will also have to learn how to work from under center. Luckily, Newton has the physical ability of no other QB in this draft which may lead to teams over drafting.

Jake Locker is the one who really scares me when it comes to the Redskins. I've heard over and over again how the Shanahan's are so keen on this guy and love him, but please move on! Locker could have been the overall #1 pick a year ago, but I think over-confidence really hurt his game. He tried to make too many plays by scrambling every other down or trying to squeeze a ball in a tight place. A 55% completion rate in college can only get worse in the NFL.

Could these players have an effect in the NFL years down the road? Sure. But not a single one in this draft is worth the ten spot, with minor exception to Cam Newton, but he will likely be gone already.

No quarterback is good without weapons, and that is something the Redskins lack. Receiver is a position that must be address come 10 days from now, and it better be address early. Just PLEASE do not over draft for a quarterback just because people on ESPN do their job and bring unnecessary hype to certain people.

redskins sign atogwe

It is official, Oshiomogho Atogwe will be wearing a Redskins uniform. Only question that remains is when, considering the NFL has yet to sign a new Collective Bargaining Agreement.

O.J. Atogwe signed a five year deal worth $26 million dollars.

Atogwe is a huge boost in the secondary that saw Kevin Barnes, a third round pick in 2009 as a cornerback, fill in at the end of last season. The free safety position also saw Kareem Moore, Reed Doughty, Macho Harris, and an injured Chris Horton.

Atogwe is a six year veteran out of Stanford who has spent his entire career with the St. Louis Rams. He has racked up 470 tackles, 22 interceptions, 22 forced fumbles, eight fumble recoveries, and five sacks. His combined 44 interceptions and fumbles leads the league since 2006.

His best season came back in 2007 when none other than current Redskins defensive coordinator Jim Haslett was with the Rams. He led the NFC with eight interceptions, and managed 94 tackles.

Here's a quick sneak peak of what's to come...

I think this pick is huge for the Redskins. I know, he's not necessarily an elite safety in the league, but he flies to the ball and creates turnovers. Redskins have several players at safety right now so look for someone to be cut, my guess is Macho Harris will go first, but it still probably won't happen for quite some time.

Only question that remains is what number will he wear? He wore number 21 in St. Louis, and we all know that nobody can wear that number as well as the last person did.

sunday combine review

It's been too long since I have posted on here but now is a crucial time so hopefully I can get back on track. My apologies.

The NFL scouting combine saw skilled position players take the field Sunday morning after offensive lineman, tight ends, and specialists saw the field during the days before. A lot of impressions were made, both good and bad, as players took their first step towards the NFL.

I didn't get to see every last player or every single workout, but I did manage to watch much of the combine and get a look at a few guys I had not noticed before.

Here's a real quick overview of what I saw, read, heard, and believe could happen to a few select players.

Draft Stock Rising
1. Randall Cobb - WR, Kentucky
I'm not gonna lie, I didn't know a thing about this cat before today, but he immediately caught my eye. He ran a 4.46 40-yard dash which was ninth among receivers, but his quickness and control was what really got me. During the gauntlet drill (receivers run in straight line from sideline to sideline catching balls coming from both sides of body), he burst into full speed from a standing position, caught the ball with his HANDS, and turned up the sideline at the end like it was a walk in the park. Definitely a slot receiver cause he's only 5'10'', but in today's game, slot receivers are vital to a successful passing game.

2. Torrey Smith - WR, Maryland
He's a junior who left school early to follow his dream. He was born to a 16 year old mother and had three younger siblings by the time he was six. His father was in and out of jail while his mother struggled for custody. He is very speedy with good size and remarkable big-play ability. He struggles with route running, but his hands are strong so when thrown the ball he will bring it down. His biggest component is his leadership and maturity, for reasons I just stated and more.

3. Jacquizz Rodgers - RB, Oregon State
Little man is 5'5'' but a feisty one at that. He ran a 4.64 40-yard dash which is nothing great, but his quickness is what's admired. He cuts and turns and stops on a dime. I've seen him play in games before, but seeing him again just reassures he has a chance. I like to root for the little guys.

I was about to do three players whose draft stock was sinking, but it's hard to tell if really anyone underperformed. Some say Cam Newton had a rough day, but I disagree. You can't judge him based on his passes to unknown receivers. His athletic ability is unlike no other quarterback in the draft.

Blaine Gabbert I think didn't do any favors for himself since he was really the only quarterback who didn't throw. He did show some strength that I didn't know of, but I would have liked to see him toss a few balls.

Julio Jones was phenomenal, but can his stock get any higher? He looked just as good if not better than A.J Green in my eyes. Of course all of you will disagree since you're reading ESPN who still thinks Green is far and beyond ahead of other receivers. But to me, Jones matches up. They're two different styled receivers who will both be picked early in the draft.

Linebackers and defensive lineman are set for Monday's workouts. Coverage begins on NFL Network at 9:00 so be sure to watch.

trick shot quarterback

Johnny McEntee is the backup quarterback for the UCONN Huskies, but instead of waiting for next season to prove to his coaches he can start, he decided to make a trick shot video.

Pretty impressive. Of course you can never tell how many tries each of these took, but I bet a lot of players couldn't do some of these things no matter how many times they try.

I just hope this is a spark to more football trick shots, the basketball ones have started to get repetitive.

shaun rogers isn't the answer

The Cleveland Browns released Shaun Rogers last week a month before the player was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent. He almost immediately visited Redskins Park and this stirs up a problem in my eyes.

First, why don't we take a look at Rogers' resume.
2010 season stats: 17 tackles, 2 sacks, hip and ankle injuries
2010 stories (since that's mostly what the Redskins are about these days): Arrested for bringing gun into airport. Also "saved lives" by reporting a drunk driver and pulling over behind the driver to keep other cars aware.

His 6-4, 350 pound stature is highly recognized and ideal for 3-4 defenses. He clogs the line much like Haynesworth and often takes up two offensive lineman when healthy. He has racked up 37.5 sacks and four forced fumbles which is rather good for a 3-4 defensive tackle. The stat that stands out however, is his 14 field goal blocks an 3 PAT blocks; that statistic may be unmatched.

Last year he was primarily a reserve due to his injuries, so the question remains if the 31, turning 32, year old can still consistently produce.

But let's think about this. The Redskins are in a rebuilding process right? And we need to get younger, faster, stronger, healthier, and smarter correct? So wouldn't this be the wrong route to take?

I think it is. Look, Rogers has been great WHEN healthy. He could probably do what the Redskins ask and wouldn't whine about it, but he's just too old for me.

I think the Redskins need to address this position early in the draft so we can get a solid d-tackle and not worry about it for several years. I would highly consider drafting a guy like Phil Taylor out of Baylor.

The kid looked phenomenal during Senior Bowl week and is practically equivalent in size to Rogers as he currently sits at 6-4, 337 lbs. He is very powerful, yet quick with a mind-full of moves. His stamina is of question, but word is he is trying to lose 15 pounds in order to be full strength all game long.

He did get suspended when he played for Penn State which ultimately led to his transfer, but it was for a fight with frat kids so I can understand the frustration. If teams are willing to put that in the past, Taylor is a huge prospect.

So here's what I would do. Let Rogers slip away and go play somewhere else instead of spending huge money on him, and draft Taylor in the 2nd or 3rd round. You can get him for much cheaper and with much more effort as he needs to prove himself as a rookie.

Honestly, I love this Taylor kid so I'm passionate about this one. He's too strong and has too much potential to let slip away.

super bowl prediction

Okay I haven't posted a blog post all week and it's perhaps the biggest week in sports all year. All because of one game. So, I took my time to prepare this post and hopefully it was worth the wait.

Super Bowl XLV. Dallas, Texas. Packers. Steelers. Cheese heads and cheesy towels. Let's do it.

I'm gonna start with the top five story lines -as of now- heading into Sunday's game.

Hair, tale of the quarterbacks, labor strike, Pouncey

5. Jerry's World
Jerry Jones' super bowl fantasy with the Cowboys didn't come true, but he must have something else up his sleeve. I'm expecting him to pop up in commercials, in his owners suite, or for all I know maybe the with the commentators. Whatever it is, this super bowl isn't about him! It's in his stadium and that's it, but yet he has more involvement then any other host....ever. Get outta here.

4. Hair Battle
Troy Polamalu vs. Clay Matthews. Curly vs. Straight. Head and Shoulders vs. ............nothing. Yes, Polamalu's hair is more expensive as he mentioned, but the shine and glamor of Matthews is hard to pass up. Guarantee you after this super bowl, whoever wins will receive some type of endorsement.

3. Maurkice Pouncey
The glue for the Steelers offensive line may be too dry. After a high ankle sprain two weeks ago against New York, he's in a position Dwight Freeney found himself in last year. He's walking in a boot right now and it all comes down to Friday if he plays or not. If he practices, he'll play. If not, he sits. Even if he plays, the question is if he can be effective during the game.

2. Labor Strife
It's extremely disappointing this is one of the focuses of the NFL this week. But then again, this might be the last football game we see till September 2012. The NFL could also see an 18 game season, but until the CBA figures out a new deal, no football will be played next year. Major downer.

1. Quarterback Tales
Aaron Rodgers: Followed legend Brett Favre, earned a spot among elite quarterbacks, suffered numerous concussions, and now finds himself in the Super Bowl. Perhaps the best way to make people forget about Favre is winning this game, but it's no easy task against the Steelers defense.
Ben Roethisberger: Two-time champion, four game suspension, possible drinking outing this past Tuesday, and a debate to last a lifetime. If he wins this game, is he considered among the best quarterbacks of all time? My answer....no. Teams win super bowls, not quarterbacks.

Alright so those are the story lines, here are my marquee match-ups.

Steelers secondary vs GB receivers. Shawn Suisham against the goal posts.

3. Shaun Suisham vs. The Goal Posts
This is probably a bias match-up considering I had to deal with Suisham for a couple years, but I think he'll struggle when they need him. He hasn't been too bad for Pittsburgh this year, but he seems to falter under pressure. If he's on point, it could be the difference the Steelers are looking for.

2. Mike Wallace vs. Packers Secondary
Mike Wallace will be my difference maker for this game. With his burst of speed and play-making ability, look for Big Ben to look his way often. Charles Woodson could be lining up across from him, but then again he may want to control the aggressiveness of Hines Ward. Nick Collins must keep an eye out for Wallace and not let the Steeler get behind him. Otherwise...game over.

1. Packers Running Game vs. Steelers Front Seven
Steelers love to send different blitz packages, but the ir most effective defense comes from up front. Brandon Jackson, John Kuhn, and James Starks will share carries throughout the game with the bulk coming from Jackson who finished the season with only 703 yards on 190 carries (3.7 average). The Packers must get their passing game going in order to push the Steelers back and free up the run.

Okay final prediction time.

There is nothing more that I would like than have the Packers come away with the win. Their defense is in the top five in almost all categories, they have the better quarterback in my opinion, and they have the players to make it all happen. However, this is the Super Bowl, and who has the most victories in the history of the NFL? The Pittsburgh Steelers. Mike Tomlin knows how to get his team prepared for these games if the players aren't used to it anyway. Dick LeBeau holds the outcome of this game in his hands with his defensive play calls and no coach is better then the Hall of Famer.

Steelers will find a way to win. Ben Roethlisberger will get his first SB MVP Trophy, and the Steelers will walk away with their seventh championship.

Final score: Green Bay Packers 20 Pittsburgh Steelers 27

But one last thing, if any man can change the outcome of this game, it's Lil Wayne and his new song. Introducing: Green and Yellow.

Surprise!

Friday's are a nice surprise sometimes. You work all week, you're tired, you want to relax, and before you know it...it's Friday!

So, keeping that surprise theme in mind, I decided to share a few videos that were surprising to say the least. Whether it's a surprise shot, or a surprise blow to the head, these people didn't see it coming.

Four full spins around the rims when you actually count, but in real time it sure looks like a lot more then that. Little Earl Boykins continues to impress NBA giants.

Some type of a high school broadcast, but again, nobody can say they saw that one coming. Nice shot, or pass, or....whatever kid.

Right when you think a fan is running up to celebrate with you, its rock em sock em time. I've always wondered if this type of thing happens when people storm the playing field.

After this kid socked the other kid in the face, he took this video (filmed by his mother) and uploaded it to youtube. Supposedly #3 hit him in the eye so #34 sneakily bopped him. I love his mothers reaction of "what?!" as if he didn't deserve it. Good luck with that one Bub!

incredible talent

Before we continue, this post has absolutely nothing to do with sports or athletes.

However, the talent in this video is the best I have ever seen or heard for the particular talent. The art of beat boxing is one that millions of people take on and almost everybody tries at some point in their life. But for this fella, it seems to be a way of life.

Hundreds of thousands of people witnessed the Steelers beat the Jets, but not many of you may have caught what happened during the game between Mark Sanchez and Mark Brunell.

Yikes. Full blown gold digging and then wiping it on old Mark Brunell! You can see Brunell look down then yell "did you wipe that on me?!" right before the camera changes. Classic.

This is like a kid picking his boogs and then wiping it on his grandparents back when he or she gives them a hug. I don't know if that actually happens though?

5 reasons....

So as the news broke on Sunday that Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer was demanding a trade, one thing popped into my mind. Please Redskins, don't even think about this one.

Look, I'm a fan of the former first overall draft pick from USC, but the guy has gotten consistently worse throughout his career. He suffered an ACL injury in the playoffs of 2005, and in 2008 he was forced to sit out again with an elbow injury. It might be due to injury, but the guy never really lived up to expectations.

So, I decided to come up with this handy list of five reasons the Washington Redskins should choose to not even glance at Carson, and move in other directions.

So away we go.

5. What good is it?
Honestly people, why trade for Carson Palmer? In what ways does that put the Redskins a step ahead of what they were in 2010? A lot of people have forgotten we still have McNabb, but yet you want Carson Palmer? It's just a waste of draft picks or players, whatever Cincy would ask for.

4. He's an aging veteran.
Carson Palmer will be 31 years old come opening day of 2011. He's played seven seasons (some shortened to injury) and has essentially accomplished nothing. He is 0-2 in the playoffs, has just two winning seasons, and oh yeah...he was a pro bowl MVP. Donovan has accomplished much more than that and people in Washington want him out. So again....it'd be pointless.

3. Locker room issues.
Everybody knows he has struggled with the receivers he has had in recent years. We saw it with T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Chad Ochocinco, and most recently T.O.. Everybody disagrees with his decision making on the field, but then again, it might just be his receivers causing the problems. Oh, and this guy threatened to retire if they don't trade him? Honestly, you're not that great dude. The NFL and any team in this league wouldn't be missing out if you took your money and disappeared.

2. Money.
If the Redskins were to trade for Palmer, over $50 million would be due to the player over the last four years of his contract. Now the Redskins could renegotiate his contract, but that's not certain and something tells me the quarterback will still want a large sum of money. Redskins need to pay players that want to play and give it their all, not pay players who are already thinking of retirement.

1. Redskins are rebuilding!
If you look or think of some goals for the Redskins, perhaps the biggest one is to get younger. Of course veteran leadership is highly encouraged, but this is not the right scenario for that. Everybody knows the Redskins need to find a young rookie quarterback to develop and there's no denying that. Not to mention Carson Palmer was handed a load of rookie receivers this year in Cincy and look how he's finishing that relationship. Younger, quicker, stronger, and maybe more inexperienced is the way to go for now. Because once all that fades and the players learn, there's no ceiling on what the team can do.

a hollywood star is born

Kobe Bryant has officially become the first athlete ever to have his hand and foot imprinted into a Hollywood Star.

The five-time national champion and 12-time all-star from Philadelphia will be recognized the day before this years all-star game as his star will be placed in front of the Grauman Chinese Theater.

I have no problem with Kobe receiving the star whatsoever, but I do have a problem with the fact he's the only athlete to ever receive one. I'm not so sure if he is the best athlete to ever come through L.A., but then again maybe he is.

If you think about it, he doesn't have very much competition. Magic Johnson called Los Angeles his home, but his statistical numbers and short career don't even up with Kobe. Blake Griffin is already showing signs of a huge career in the future, but he's also on the lacking Clippers and who knows if he can stay there his whole career if they can't start winning.

Other then that, I can't really think of anyone who stayed in L.A. their entire career and produced as well as Kobe has. Not to mention all the championships he brought to the city.

So at the end of the day, you could say Kobe deserves it and it's all right that he is the only athlete to receive the honor. But before I die, there better be a few more athletes with a Hollywood Star.

P.S. By no way does this mean Kobe Bryant is the best basketball player in history people! Just the best one with a career in California.

Ahhh the Augusta. The home of Golfs most watched tournament in the world, the Masters.

But wait a second, did you notice anything? Perhaps that the above picture is a VIDEO GAME! Yeah, look a little closer and you can see it, if you didn't already.

That's a picture from "Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters". It completely fooled me the first time I saw it, definitely thought it was the real thing.

The graphics in this game might be the best ever, but not just for the PGA games. I'm talkin any video game ever invented that's available for the major systems (Xbox and PS3).

The people over at EA had exclusive entry into the course and took over a year to complete laser scanning of every last hole.

You tell me. Was it worth it?

Sorry for that. But this is Al Davis. The 81 year old Raiders owner and former AFL commissioner. Winner of three Super Bowls and a 1992 Hall of Fame inductee.

He made his first public appearance since 2009 this week when he introduced new Raiders coach Hue Jackson and then bashed former Raiders coach Tom Cable.

His neck looks like a spider web, his cheeks and mouth look like my hamster Chaz, and I think lava is pouring out of his forehead.

LeBron James has seemed to match Michael Jordan in a lot of things through the first half of his career.

He didn't (and still hasn't) win a championship within his first seven years in the league. He is the most marketed player in the NBA. He won two MVP awards within his first seven years. And of course they both have their own shoes.

And now...they will both be familiar with the cartoon business.

That's right. LeBron James is creating his own Youtube Channel series called "The LeBrons". Reference to MJ there is the one and only movie "Space Jam".

I think it looks interesting. Only problem is I'll probably never watch it due to the fact it's on youtube.

Joe Theissman breaking his leg during his professional football career was the worst possible thing that could have happened to him. Not only because his playing days were over...but because he then got into broadcasting.

Unfortunately, the former Redskin is one of the main faces on NFL Network and he commentates Thursday Night games which are just a pain to watch. However, I will easily give him the nod over Matt Millen any day of the week.

As we all know by now the Patriots season is over (thankfully) and they are sent home. Danny Woodhead is a Patriot who I like and respect and who I believe could climb the ranks later on in his career.

Only problem is, Theismann had some trouble with little Danny's name, take a look.

Oh man. Honestly, I really only enjoy this because of Deion Sanders geeking out.

Theismann has created a lot of bloopers in his day, but this has got to top the list.

oregon is now too flashy

Everybody has grown to love the Oregon University football team and especially their uniforms, am I correct?

They had a different uniform for all 13 games of this past football season and each one was always better looking than their opponent. However, the basketball team did something that I personally think is over the top.

It's not their jersey, but their brand new court. The Matthew Knight Arena premiered last week and honestly I thought I didn't know what I was watching.

The court is stamped with fir trees of different variations of brown. In the middle of the court is the Oregon 'O' and some sort of lettering beneath it. I have no idea what it's supposed to say so don't ask or hate me for not knowing. Then below all of that the court reads "deep in the woods" which is supposed to intimidate teams.....right.
I guess the theme of trees manages to have some significance as it refers back to the 1939 championship team, nicknamed "The Tall Firs". Again....oh so intimidating.

To me, it's a huge distraction. It's similar to Boise States "Smurf Turf" in that it takes away from the action and focuses on the playing field. I can't sit there and watch a game without thinking of the court every two minutes.

A lot of people seem to like it but I do not. They could have found other ways to have a traditional basketball court and still add some flare.

selling fan allegiance

There are a few rules that come with being a sports fan.

1...you find a favorite team (hopefully hometown, unless you're one of those people).
2...you watch close to every game, if not every game, and go hog wild throughout the event.
3...if anybody bashes your team, you find anything possible to say that makes your team better than theirs.
4...you never, EVER, give up fansmanship and give up on your squad.

Guess what, a 28 year old married father just broke these rules and more. How he's doing it? He's selling his fan allegiance on Ebay. And yes....I'm serious.

He's a lifelong Bengals fan with a lot of built up emotion. He dislikes just about every minor and major detail of the team stemming from the owner down to his fan gear.

The guy does offer a lot of incentive. He lists around 15 different benefits that he brings to the table and why a team would flourish if they had a fan like him. Some stuff is legit, like his man cave, NFL Sunday Ticket package, fantasy football commitment, and Facebook image of team all season long. It doesn't really get much better than that.

If you want more than just the basics, visit the Ebay page and read it all yourself. It's definitely a good find. And heck, if you're willing to pay a guy $500+ to be a fan of your team, place a bid!

My redskins offseason moves

This is no post, just a heads up on what's to come here at For the Win.

Obviously the Redskins season is over and has been over, but what lies ahead is arguably the most important time for the team for as long as I can remember. The team needs to upgrade several positions and most would say the first step in the draft, but we all know the Redskins make headlines in free agency.

With new faces hitting the free agency market, and college players declaring for the draft, I'll be giving a weekly output on different moves the team should make if I was the GM.

Pros and cons, detailed analysis, predictions and results will be posted much more often instead of the funny sports stories.

Also, a month before the draft I will start posting my mock draft counting down from 32 to 1. Each day I'll name the player and why he should be picked by that certain team.

Okay that is all, I'll still be posting the normal stuff but look for a few changes. This should definitely be a change for the better.

Bowling doesn't get much more exciting outside of rolling a turkey on the wii or beating your past high score.

The repetitive motion of three to four steps, a swing back, to a swing forward, to tossing or rolling the ball with the right or wrong amount of spin just never caught on in my life. Except that is....on the wii.

This guy here messed up big time on his roll, but as he turned around, magic happened.

Okay so it's not magic, it's just a lucky bounce right? Either way, best bowling toss I have ever seen in my life. But that's not saying much.

Next step: Bouncing over TWO lanes and getting the strike. Just do it.

Two years ago, this happened....

Now, the guy who got hit with the oversized snowball is suing and hoping for some added dollar bills right before the holidays.

Shaun Ellis, Jets defensive lineman, was the one who threw the ball after fans had been pelting Jets players for minutes as they headed into the locker room. And quite honestly, I'm surprised this is the first time I'm hearing of this.

The man who caught the snowball, and then proceeded to raise it above his head and dance around, is suing Ellis for "cause of injury, mental distress, humiliation, and wage loss".

I don't see how he suffered pain but danced around. I also think this humiliation is more due to his dancing and not because of the snowball. But that's just me.

not as advertised

5-8. 2-5 at home. One of the lowest quarterback ratings in the NFL. Dead last in overall defense. Plain and simple...this Redskins team isn't as advertised.

I'm beyond the point of disappointment, but I don't think I'm shocked either. And with all of three games remaining in the year, maybe the one thing I am is anxious. Anxious for another year of typical Redskins football to be over with.

I hate to say it but it's true. Obviously any hope of the playoffs are officially gone and there isn't much left to play for except jobs and pride. Or maybe for once the team would like to win for the area of D.C. But then again, probably not.

About the game, not much to say. Of course the blame is on Graham Gano and all I can hope for is that he will be Ga-Gone within days. The man who was once the best kicker in college football is not as advertised.

Mike Shanahan has officially started to make me suspicious. He runs the team and doesn't let anybody else get involved. He lacks in clock management, energy, and in-game changes. He controls every aspect of the team during the game, his son has to make sure he doesn't throw the challenge flag, and worst of all...this team may finish all of one win better then last season. Mike Shanahan isn't as advertised. Note: I'm not saying he can't fix this, but he's headed down the wrong road.

Donovan McNabb is in the bottom five for QB rating, behind who other then Jason Campbell. His passes are constantly under thrown and he holds on to the ball way too long. Over and over again I see receivers break a route getting open, but McNabb just sits and watches. He HAS to realize where his teammates are going to be and throw the ball there even if nobody is there yet. Donovan McNabb isn't as advertised.

Jim Haslett and his 3-4 defense, which is supposed to cause turnovers, is in the lower half of the league in turnovers, and without DeAngelo Hall...this team would be dead last. This defense is the last in the league in total team defense and it hasn't improved. Jim Haslett's scheme is not as advertised.

Okay look, this is all so negative but what else is there to say at this point? I understand it's the first year under all the new changes, but come on now! New coach and quarterback...that's all any of us asked for last year!

I strongly believe the Redskins won't win another game this year unless we decide to show up in Jacksonville. Cowboys are a new team and the Giants...well you can remember last week I'm sure.

It's time for a new year. A new year of making headlines, adding players, hyping the media, but most importantly...adding top quality draft picks.

Hail to the Redskins....but don't praise them right now.

Oh and real quick...I love how they don't call the holding all over Brian Orakpo on the Bucs TD pass, but they call a holding on a kick return where Mike Sellers simply drove the player into the turf. Just sayin.

The Minnesota Vikings Metrodome collapsed early Sunday morning due to snow galore accumulating on the top.

The game between the Vikings and Giants was supposed to be Sunday at 1:00, then it was moved to Monday night at 8:00, but now that the roof collapsed the game is at 7:20 on Monday night in Detroit. Weird I know.

No news yet on what they'll do past this week as far as where the Vikins will play. Looks like Minnesota University is a hot spot, only downside is it holds 14,000 less people.

Millions of people watched LeBrons return last Thursday night, but few may have noticed what a Cleveland "coach" did.

While thousands of Cleveland locals chanted "Ak-ron hates you" or "Scott-ie Pip-pen", a member of the Cavaliers sideline made a sneaky remark to King James.

Did anybody catch that? It doesn't count if you read the title either.

I love how the guy is waiting for the right moment to say it. He looks at LeBron, then looks away, then looks at LeBron, and so on. He's literally sizing him up as if he's gonna stand up and do something....yeah okay dude.

Not to mention he touches his face a few times as if to cover it up or something. He's one of those kids who talks trash to big bad bullies but then says the guy next to him said it. I've done that a few times in my day.

Every time I turned on the television Thursday, something about that man was on my screen and man did it get old.

Anyways, there is something else just about all of us has seen, but nobody ever recognizes. The free throw handshake. A low five, high five, maybe a pound? All different varieties, including one that called for the most awkward moment in basketball history.

Dang. I feel bad for these guys. It really seems like their day to day lives have become much tougher as a result of the incident. It's just an emotional thing to watch............

a funny take on something funny

Derek Anderson and the Cardinals got their butt's whooped on Monday night, right?

And while it wasn't as bad as the Skins lose to the Eagles a few weeks ago, there was still something to smile about in the quarterbacks eyes.

We all wondered what it was he laughed and joked about but we didn't know. Luckily, sports has these things called reporters that suck all the fun away.

Watch and learn, boys and girls.

Tough question and a brave soul for asking it. Not to mention he never stopped pushing for an answer the entire time Anderson was bleepin and bleepin.

Anderson obviously didn't see it coming and had no idea to react. He went from pulling the whole "it's not your business" card, to denying it, to getting caught with evidence, to lashing out at the dude cause he had no weapons left.

The world watched and laughed as the Cardinals leader dug himself into a hole, but Dwight Howard made a video that everyone can laugh to, including Derek Anderson...as long as he isn't on the sideline of a nationally televised game...dumby.

Funny? I think so.

It puts a twist on the situation and lightens the mood for everyone. Plus just about every imitation of someone that Dwight does is dead on.

I think I decided if I could hangout with any NBA player for a day, that's who it would be. Agree?

Many people have probably already seen this, but I just stumbled upon and I must spread the wealth.

Quick description: One play from the Oklahoma vs. Oklahoma State game that happened this past Saturday. It's fancy, smart, and completely unselfish (which is hard to find in football these days).

Sick nasty, wet sauce, jumbo pretzels that was sweet!

I mainly dig it because of how smart the guy is to realize that although he cannot make the play, he can help someone else do it. Football needs a lot more of this.

Oh, and I also love the receiver for Oklahoma...#85. He see's it happening and just stands there in either amazement or confusion and then gets clobbered. Classic.

So last week I posted about how the NFL made a mistake with the fine they gave Richard Seymour.

That was one, swift jab to the face. Yes it knocked down big Ben Roethlisberger, but anything can do that nowadays.

This week in the NFL saw a whole new meaning to the term "brawl".

Cortland Finnegan and Andre Johnson have been enemies for years, dating back to last year when each was fined $7,500 for a minor incident between the two.

Yesterday, they decided to keep the bad blood but do a lot more damage.

Here's the break down:

Cortland FinneganPosition: Cornerback
Age: 26
Height: 5-10
Weight: 188

Andre JohnsonPosition: Wide Receiver
Age: 29
Height: 6-3
Weight: 225

Now that everything is cleared up, let's watch the video shall we?

Boom! Bang! Whirl! Shiza! DING!

One round knockout! And the winner goes to Andre Johnson! Who cares if he was bigger, Finnegan should have never said a thing.

Although both players were ejected from the game and it seems there was no real winner, I'd say both players are winners as of today.

Why you ask? Because they were only fined $25,000!!! C'mon NFL! James Harrison is in Pittsburgh receiving heavier fines for tackling someone! Something you are taught to do from the day you strap up your laces and play Pop Warner football!

This makes no sense man. I love Andre Johnson, not so much Finnegan, but he should have gotten a much heavier fine if not a game suspension. They were outta line and I bet both players were smiling from ear to ear once they found out the penalty.

I just think the message the NFL is trying to get across is way off. It's confusing and inconsistent. This doesn't teach players not to fight, they'll see this fine and will easily go out and do it again.

But just for the record, I did enjoy watching it over and over and over again.

This wasn't the most exciting for the NFL, but one thing during the Raiders-Steelers game was sure to make headlines all week.

If you didn't already know, after Ben Roethisberger threw a 22 yard touchdown pass he whispered into the ear of Raiders defensive lineman Richard Seymour, and then he received a shot to the face.

Here's a quick look.

While it was almost guaranteed Seymour would receive a fine, we just had to sit and wait and see what the damage would be.

It's a whopping $25,000........for a punch to the face....and an ejection.....after the whistle blew.

Here's my problem. James Harrison, a forceful linebacker on the Steelers, has been fined over $100,000 for tackles that go on during a play where a player just happens to get hurt.

So it's a dude who punches a player and literally attempts to hurt them, and a guy who just does his job. But there's a $75,000 difference. Make sense?

Come on NFL! All I hear is your trying to get things right all the time but all the moves you make is wrong! Kids watching that see a great player getting fined a buttload for tackling people and someone who actually punches a guy in the face get a wee little fine. It's just stupid.

Oh and I love how there's only fines on hits if people get hurt. Even if it's helmet-to-helmet, if both players walk away fine there is no fine. So basically if you manage to hurt someone, which you can't really control, say goodbye to the money you made for that game.

I don't understand what message the NFL is trying to send these days. These owners' meetings in the off-season need to be much more heavily evaluated so people can realize what the NFL is meant to do. Aka inspire kids to play, give the greatest entertainment on earth, and pay people way too much money.

Get it right Roger Goodell!

redskins at titans reaction

Good work, boys.

This morning (Sunday) I woke up to find Laron Landry, Carlos Rodgers, Ryan Torain, and others among the inactive list. And to be honest, I was worried then.

But as the day grew older, that inactive list was rapidly growing. From Portis, to Rocky, to the Center Casey Rabach, try to imagine what was going through my head. I'll tell ya anyway...PANIC!

But, the defense was inspired by something today and played flawlessly. After giving up 1,000 points to Mike Vick and company last week, the defense had a fire lit under their donks and played tough football.

Here's my breakdown.

What I liked:
The defense, obviously. They stepped up to the occasion today allowing just three field goals with the exception of a punt return touchdown. D. Hall covered Randy Moss like white on rice, or whatever that saying is. And although CJ2K had over 100 yards, they essentially stopped his huge play making ability to an extent.

Fred Davis. Not many more people gave more of an effort than he did, at least from what I noticed. He constantly refused to go down and was begging for more yards. Only thing that worried me was he needs to hold that ball with two hands!

Donovan McNabb's two minute offense ability. You can't tell me this guy can't run up and down the field or he doesn't know terminology anymore. He performed quick drives with precision and a quick release. Only thing I wish McNabb was better with today was his accuracy, as always.

What I didn't like:
Tennessee turf. Whether it was the grass or the cleats our guys had in, that stadium tore us apart. I'm pretty sure we walked out of there with 8 less guys in uniform than we walked in with. Thanks Tennessee.

I can't think of anything else. I had something in my head but it's gone.

Overall this game was impressive for me. Maybe it's just cause I'm back in the DMV but however you want to look at it, the Redskins came away with a win when I didn't expect them to.

After last weeks blowout, this team showed heart and pride and a willingness to win, something every single last one of us thought they gave up on.

Next week the Skins host Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings. Only problem is, I don't expect Favre to start that game. Or he won't finish it. Wrangler Jeans just aren't working for him anymore or something.

Everybody pray the team can have a speedy recovery! We're still in this division race whether you think so or not.

It's fairly obvious that I didn't post my weekly Redskins Reaction post yesterday, but what do you expect after the poor excuse for a game they "played".

I was extremely upset, embarrassed, humored. It was just a pathetic showing.

My main problem with the entire game is how they had two weeks to prepare for 60 minutes of football, but they allow 35 points after one quarter and one play. 35 points in 16 minutes, after having 2 weeks to prepare for it. It was just pathetic.

Let alone the very first play was an 88 yard touchdown on the one thing the Redskins should have focused the most on before the game.

Anyways, Chad Dukes of DC Sportstalk pretty much described the game perfectly. He let his emotions take over and shouted like no other on how it feels to be a Washington Redskins fan.

Man went off! But I can't argue against him, as I don't think any Redskins fan can as they made our lives a living hell on Monday night...on national television.

My guess is we finish 6-10. But honestly it's probably best that happens because this team needs some young talent and fresh hearts who want to play their hearts out.

When people are on the jumbo-tron at a basketball game, you mostly find waves or small dance moves. But this guy, this dude, he takes it to a whole new level.

I'm pretty sure this happened a long time ago so you may have seen it, but even if you have it's worth another look.

It's somewhat inspiring to me, is that weird? I feel like if I did that, people would just stare at me like I'm some sort of an idiot.

For weeks they've trying to find out if Brett really did take and send some inappropriate pictures of his manhood. The NFL has been looking for any and all evidence that may lead to the answer of whether or not he really sent those pictures.

But guess what NFL, I just showed you up and I found the evidence all by myself. If you had to ask me, this is all you need to figure out what the heck happened during his days with the Jets.

Funny story here. Murder suspect Earle Barranco went to a Charlotte Bobcats game not long ago, and it cost him. For the first time ever, being on the big screen at a sporting event turned out bad, very bad.

My man Earle was walking behind a lovely couple who popped up on the big screen, and guess who's face was clear as day? His was, leading cops straight to him.

A friend of his who knew he was wanted told the cops and they jumped on it. What a friend that guy is...sheeeesh.

The worst part about it is that he was wearing the exact same jewelry he was supposedly wearing when he killed some guy outside of a diner a few weeks ago. Sorry, but ya should have been smart enough to change your look there kiddo.

At least he gets to say he was on the big screen before he goes to prison for, well, forever. What a way to go out!

the trick plays for all ages

This weekend was full of tricks for all levels of football.

From middle school, to LSU running a sneaky reverse, to a form of the fumblerooski fun by the Cleveland browns, everybody was pulling out plays from their bag of tricks.

Starting with a middle school in Texas, Driscoll Middle School to be exact. These little teens had one of the weirdest tricks in the football playbook. How it worked, I will never know.

I don't know how you draw that up. There's no way you can expect that to work! It's gotta be one of those "let's hope so" plays.

Now we move on to college. This play isn't nearly as sneaky. More than likely, they knew this was going to work.

When I saw this live, I was somewhat amazed. I've just never really seen anything like it and I never saw it coming. And obviously, neither did 'Bama.

Finally, the Cleveland Browns whooped up on the Patriots, with help from a certain play.

Yep you guessed it, it's another tricky play.

A version of the old fumblerooski perhaps? The lineman weren't ready, they all faked right while Chansi Stuckey slowly started moving with the ball to the left. Classic move the NFL hasn't seen in a long time.

Late Sunday afternoon, during the Colts-Eagles game, CBS brought about some old football of Eagles head coach Andy Reid.

Really quick before the video, Reid entered the punt, pass, and kick competition back in 1971 when he was only 13. Now keep that in mind as you watch this video. And make sure you realize all the kids behind him are the same age.

He was HUGE! I'm talking ginormous!

Notice his jersey only goes down half his arm while the kid behind him looks like he's wearing a coat. Plus his face is practically touching the facemask. Crazy!

Unfortunately I couldn't find his height or weight for back then, but the video does all the talking anyway. I just wish I knew.

top 10: football is better than baseball

There's always that debate of what is better. The whole whatever you can do, I can do better thing.

And most often in sports, there's almost always an argument of which sport is better. Baseball, basketball, football, hockey, soccer, cheerleading. Wait.....scratch that, cheerleading is not a sport. Sorry girls.

Football and baseball are perhaps the nations top two sports and have been for decades. People care more about this argument then who is going to be the next president.

The simple fact is, football is better people. And your boy, aka me, is here to give you 10 reasons why that is true. Don't believe me? Then either read this for yourself or get outta here.

Top 10 reasons football is better than baseball

10. Season can change at any time!
In football, one game can start a span of wins, or the other way around. With such risk to injury, any moment during a game can potentially make or break your season. Or say the Bills went into Indianapolis and pulled off a victory, that could change the world for the Bills. Every team has a chance to win any given Sunday.

9. Rain, snow, volcano, who cares.
Okay not so much volcanoes, but football games happen any where at any time no matter the weather. A little drop of rain isn't gonna postpone a game. It simply makes the game more interesting and exciting. Baseball players see rain and run the other way.

8. Cheerleaders!
The closest things to cheerleaders baseball has is the ball girl sitting on her butt waiting for a foul ball. Yes she'll give an occasional ball or two if you just happen to sit right there, but in football they launch t-shirts and other things where anybody has a chance at them! Unless you're upper deck...it might be tough if you're up there. Everybody likes cheerleaders, unless you're the girlfriend.

7. Ultimate team sport.
Baseball can be handled by one or two guys the entire game. Everything is on the pitcher. You have a bad pitcher, you're gonna lose. In football, you can have a bad quarterback and still win games. Everybody is involved in every single last play. Everybody has a role and if that role isn't filled, good luck.

6. Atmosphere of games.
100,000 people, painted faces, costumes, yelling, screaming, high fives, standing up the entire game. Nothing beats that! Where else in the world can you high five loads of people who you don't know? The noise is crazy, the people are crazy, and the players love it. Not many dull or boring moments during a football game.

5. Best baseball players cheat.
Over the last decade, just about every player who has reached milestones or broken records has been accused of using steroids or some sort of performance enhancer. Everybody loved A-Rod...until he cheated. Or Barry Bonds, the best home run hitter in HISTORY had to cheat in order to get there. The record books will forever hold asterisks.

4. Commercials
I don't care what you think, the beer commercials during football games are hilarious. They have common themes and seem to get better every time. Coors light, I think, continues to have the best commercials with the different press conference remakes. Even when football takes a break, the commercials keep viewers glued to the tv.

3. Every game counts.
162 games vs 16. That's over ten times more. Nobody cares about that many games! In football, especially college football, if you lose one game, your season may be over. Not to mention you can pretty much guess in April who will make the playoffs in baseball. I bet nobody guessed the Chiefs would be 5-2, or the Cowboys would be 1-6. Again, anything can happen during any given game.

2. It's manly!
I don't even know where to start on this one. This game is more brutal than any game out there. More than rugby, more than hockey, more than whatever. Every down consists of a battle of two or more players. Whether to get by a block, stop a pass, or get the runner to the ground, players do whatever it takes to get the job done. Nobody understands the pain players wake up to each and every Monday morning during the season.

1. The facts: Ratings!
Here's my problem. Monday night was game 5 of the world series, the clinching game for the Giants. but guess what, Dancing with the Stars had higher ratings! That's a joke! Sunday Night Football also had high ratings for that night! Nobody watches baseball anymore! It is no longer Americas Past Time, people couldn't care less for baseball. The fact that a dancing show is beating out the biggest event of the season is pathetic. Nothing compares to the Super Bowl in ratings, not a thing.

Th-th-th-that's all folks! If you think baseball is better, please leave a comment on here giving your side of this. Maybe someone can make a valid point, but I just can't see it.

Baseball is a good sport don't get me wrong, I just want to put an end to such a debate.

It's no news Randy Moss has had ups and downs in his career, especially within the past month.

He was waived this past Monday but head coach Brad Childress and was picked up yesterday by the Tennessee Titans.

I'm not gonna lie, I was PRAYING my 'Skins would pick him up. We need a sizable receiver outside of Santana that could free up other play makers in our offense. But, it didn't happen so moving on.

If you ever watch NFL Countdown, you may have seen this. It's a nice little remix of all of Randy's quotes over the years. Not quite up to par with Mr. Antoine Dodson, but it's still pretty catchy.

I've had this song stuck in my head for hours now.

It's pretty funny. It's just like...what happened dude? He used to be one of the most feared receivers in the league because of his play, now he is because of his interviews, or lack there of.

I still think Randy has a lot left in him. If he works hard, doesn't give up on routes, and listens to his head coach, the man can be a force to be reckoned with. Until then, he's just a sweet remix on youtube.

Pretty neat. I wish this would happen more often instead of just after they score goals or something good happens. Since any chance of something good happening is RARE!

Whoever said Halloween is just for kids....HA!

Athletes, especially some of the Boston Celtics, took the spirit of Halloween into their own hands. Creating never before seen characters and role playing all weekend long was their only goal this Halloween weekend.

Take Shaq for example. After having little Nate Robinson run in his shoes, he took on an entirely new alter ego this Halloween.

Dude is hilarious! I'm guessing the "guy" he's with is his wife? I'm not really sure. Whatever.

Some of his teammates also had a good time this Halloween...

I'm not necessarily sure what all of them are, but they're lookin good. Not to mention all the grub they have in front of them! Look at all that! Hook me up!

Halloween is no longer just about trick or treating anymore kids, it's about athletes actually being able to show personality for once.

redskins at lions reaction

Not again. No way. It can't be. Oh no.

The fear of freaky costumes and Saw 3D wasn't the only thing people were afraid of on Halloween. A loss to the Lions was also added to that list as of yesterday.

A back and forth game, which is very familiar, ended worse than most could have imagined. Calvin Johnson and the Lions figured out the Skins and shut em down when it counted most. Here's the breakdown.

What I liked...
Brandon Banks. While his tweets are sure to catch the eyes of twitter bugs, his returning this week was excellent. He returned a kick 96 yards to give the Skins the lead at the time, but the of course the offense couldn't get the two-point conversion. And he would have had a 95 yard td return if it wasn't for a holding penalty. Man is set to do big the rest of his career.

Anthony Armstrong. Three catches for 92 yards. Without him we don't score anywhere near 25 points. He's a playmaker with exceptional speed, I just want to see more yards after the catch. Other than that, bravo.

Albert Haynesworth...again. He was great last week and he performed at the same level this week. Time and time again he threw defenders to the side and got to or altered the quarterback or running back. Good work.

Dallas lost.

What I didn't like...
Running game. I understand Ryan Torain went out early with a hamstring injury, but I still expected a lot more than 19 rushes for all of 80 yards against the leagues worst rushing defense. Threw 37 times, ran 19. I get they were stopping us, but keep pounding the ball and wear out the defense. Especially if passing the ball isn't very effective.

Offense can't win games. I've come to the fact that we've won games simply through the defense. When we're winning and the defense needs a stop, they get it for us. But when the offense gets their opportunity, they choke. I understand the D could have stopped the Lions in the fourth quarter, but the offense was left with plenty of time to score and failed miserably. Offense. Isn't. Clutch.

Where's the energy? I noticed through out the game the energy was lacking. Some players show it, but others I see nothing. McNabb always looks bored on the sideline and I hate it. Get your team together and rally em up! Somebody needs to light a fire under this offense and get them to play.

Coaches decision to put in Rex. I understand Donovan isn't the king of comebacks by any means, but Rex Grossman...really? Now if he had led a game winning drive this would be in my likes section, but he didn't. This just adds unneeded drama to McNabb who plays Philly in two weeks.

Now not to make excuses, but the Lions were coming off a bye week and that has proved to be extremely vital this season to teams coming off a bye and playing at home. With that said, the Redskins now head into a bye then host the Eagles on Sunday night. Hopefully the good fortune can continue.

I doubt Shanahan will give these guys much time off, if any, and I hope he doesn't. This team is supposed to be a work in process but we have an opportunity here for a chance at the NFC East title. 4-4 at the halfway point is good, but let's make something out of the last half of the season.

HAHAHA! I haven't actually laughed at a youtube video in quite some time, but this one got me.

He looks like some sort of midget robot with Hulk feet! It's just funny! There's probably a million other ways to describe it but that's what I came up with.

I also like how he floats at the rim in the end. He has on a size 23 shoe, he probably wears like a 12 at most I'm guessing, and he can fly to the sky like no other. Give me your bunnies!

the flacco "situation"

The Jersey Shore may have found a new cast member in a professional football player. And he simply goes by the name of Joe Flacco.

The Baltimore Ravens quarterback took a team charity event into his own hands and also got a head start on Halloween.

He's rockin a new-do, a well thought out t-shirt with graphics galore, and the new name "Jersey Joe". If you take a look at him with his glasses on, he's a perfect resemblance of "The Situation" from the actual show. It's kinda funny.

The back of his head is actually a Raven if you couldn't figure it out. It took me forever but I shoula known right from the start...whoops.

Perhaps the best thing about this is that Flacco is originally from Jersey! So he fits right in! If they come out with another season and the NFL goes into a lockout, I found a gig for the guy. He'll take over for that Angelina dramatist.

Ravens head into a bye week this week and then are at home November 7 for a game against Brandon Marshall and the Miami Dolphins. So if he still has the do then, I'd say he's legit guido. Just not exactly a juicehead....snooki.

watch this unicycle madness

Okay before you take a look at this clip, let me make sure one thing is clear.

I ride unicycles right. Five-foot tall ones, offroad ones, cruisers, kangaroo unicycles (pedals aren't opposite of each other, each leg makes same motion at same time. It's confusing), basically you give me a uni and I'll ride it.

Now, I've hopped down stairs and went off minor ledges, and yeah I thought I was the coolest man on earth. Boy was I wrong.

These guys in this video have embarrassed me, and have officially become my idols.

Even if you're not a fan of unicycling, you HAVE to watch this.

WOW! This is by far the greatest unicycle video I've ever seen, and I've watched my fair share of videos. The Maxwhip trick at about 2:15 is a trick I've never seen and my jaw dropped as I was watching it.

I made my own video a few years back and I thought I was all that...yeah right. I knew people were really good, but these guys took it to a whole new level. Bravo.

After watching things like this, I wish unicycling was a sport. It's the same concept as skateboarding if you think about it, just a huge difference in interest.

So ah men brother, good work! Come give me some lessons will ya?

big bad bullies

If you haven't noticed, the Redskins and Giants have been leaving players black and blue week in and week out.

Throughout the year, these two NFC Beasts have gone into a game with a game plan for a certain player, however, at the end of the game that player is non-existent.

So does their game plan consist of taking out these players on purpose. Doubt it. But whatever they're doing seems to work just fine.

The Redskins have left teams without their primary weapon several times. Players include Mike Vick, Clay Matthews, Andre Johnson, Steven Jackson, Jermichael Finley, Dallas Clark, and re-aggravated Lance Briggs this past Sunday.

Meanwhile, another team in the NFC East is keeping up with the Redskins in the injuries they dish out. The New York Giants have taken out five, count em, five quarterbacks through seven games.

Matt Moore, Todd Collins and Jay Cutler, Shaun Hill, and of course Tony Romo who is now expected to miss the rest of the season.

So what is it about these two teams?! Do they play dirty? Are they out for blood? Or is there names cause Giants and Redskins normally hurt people, just sayin.

I just wanted to point this out because it's something to keep an eye on. If it continues then I think it's quite funny. But then again, if I was a player I'd be quite worried.

My advice: Any top team that has a player they cannot afford to lose, limit their playtime! Lord only knows who will get hurt as that seems to be the theme of the season.

So July 8, 2010, may have been the biggest day for sports this year. Don't remember what happened? Shame on you.

The King, the L-Train, The Chosen One, The Akron Hammer, LBJ, whatever you wanna call him, LeBron James made a decision to head to Miami and to have Cleveland as simply a memory.

It's crazy how one decision can lead to a world of controversy for the guy. And basically, this new Nike ad sums up how he feels about the whole situation.

Good man. To me, that's awesome.

The man is standing up for himself, making his own decisions, and not really caring about what anybody thinks he "should" do.

He's not standing up for himself in an offensive way either. He's simply saying he can make his own decisions without hearing all the nonsense that people have been dishing out the past two and a half months.

This video should allow Cav's fans to respect him maybe a tad bit more. Ya gotta understand the man had to do what he thought would be in his best interest. He wants to win a championship, and I think every one can admit joining the Heat gave him the best chance to do that.

But LeBron there is one problem, you SHOULD have joined the Wizards.

Redskins vs Bears Reaction

I don't know if this game was either sloppy, or just a very well played defensive game.

But hey, the Skins came away with a 17-14 win and now have four wins on the young season. And those four wins ties the amount the Redskins had all of last season through just seven games.

This game was very important for the Skins as they head to Detroit next week and then have their bye week before a very tough four game schedule. The team just ended a four game stretch which everyone wondered how they would contest against tough opponents. And winning three of those four, the team has proved they are one to watch.

Today, the team showed me a lot in both a positive way, but also showed they have a lot to work on. Let's get started.

What I enjoyed:
The running game. Against a defense which contains two of the best players in the league with Julius Peppers and Brian Urlacher, Ryan "the train" Torain was able to show bursts of speed along with blows of power. Running right up the gut with Torains power and full head of steam allowed for big runs as he was able to meet linebackers and the secondary and break any arm tackle that made contact with him.

DeAngelo Hall. What a game! I've been iffy on Hall throughout the season, from his off the field comments to simply blowing a coverage or allowing a receiver to catch the ball with little effort. Today he stepped up in a big way, playing tight coverage and keeping his head on a swivel he was able to react to the receiver while knowing where the ball was. Four interceptions in one half...that's all i really needed to say for this one.

Albert Haynesworth. This man also stepped up in a big way today. He was a force on the line and if the Bears weren't double teaming him he found his way into the backfield. One play i specifically remember is when he literally drove his man straight back into Jay Cutler and Cutler just dropped straight to the ground. Impressive day, at this point I'm glad the trade deadline came and went.

What needs work:
Fumbles. I understand the Bears were simply only going for the ball in the second half, but you gotta be prepared for that and get two hands on the ball if you have it. We got really lucky we were able to fall on a few of the fumbles towards the end of the game, otherwise the result may have been different. Whoever fumbled better be carrying a ball from here on out until they arrive back in D.C..

Redzone. Okay look. In the first half the Redskins started with the ball at midfield a couple of times and weren't able to do much with it. We were able to run on this team but when we got in their territory we went to the pass and it simply didn't work. Running the ball a tad more would have made me a tad happier. That is all.

Game ball:
DeAngelo Hall. Again, four interceptions, one for a 92 yard touchdown, tied an NFL record, what more can you ask for. Good work kid.

Next Week:
Detroit Lions. Everybody remembers last year when we gave the Lions their first win in 19 games or whatever it was, and I highly doubt the players are going to forget that either. They have a huge opportunity to be 5-3 at the halfway point and heading into the bye week before a rematch with the Eagles. Just remember, no game in an automatic win.

I'm proud of my boys this week. Another Sunday I'm left with very short fingernails but hey, I'll take a win against a 4-2 team. Keep it rollin my dudes! Hail to the Redskins!

The talk of this week has been the problem with helmet-to-helmet in the NFL. It's dangerous, risky, a problem, and it has to be fixed right? Wrong!

So I stumbled across the video recently from a football game in Canada, and boy was I in for something unexpected.

Recently the talk of the NFL has been dealing with concussions and helmet-to-helmet hits right? And the NFL thinks it's a problem as does most of the nation, correct?

Well, this happened this weekend in the Ontario Junior Football league. And to my surprise, they can take a hit, and give out several. As well as kicks, helmet throws, shoving down bleachers, and so on.

I've never seen anything like this, even Ron Artest and his days with the Indiana Pacers couldn't compare to this.

If you noticed, one dude (a fan) get's completely knocked out about a minute and 15 seconds in. And he literally was out cold.

I don't really know what started it. Seemed to be taunting that just escalated to a new level. There also has yet to be any investigation or charges against any of the players.

The NFL fines and suspends players for a hard tackle, but in Canada this seems to be perfectly fine. Yeah...okay.

Ohhhh man.

Okay so we all know the Cowboys got their first win against the Texans Sunday (whoop-dee-doo), but that may not have been the most crazy thing that happened on the field.

After a Texans kickoff and Cowboys return, all sorts of randomness, craziness, hoopla, razzle-dazzle went on. To put it more simply, a butt-load of penalties on both teams.

So, when the ref went to make his announcement to the coaches, players, and fans, he seemed to have a little trouble getting it all out.

Take a look.

Tell me you didn't lol out loud? Just sayin.

I feel bad for the dude. It almost looks as if the other ref had to relay the information to him once he restarted. Poor fella.

He's probably home right now, practicing his reading out loud or saying tongue twisters.

Redskins Reaction

Wow.

Can't really believe this one. The game isn't even over yet but I'm writing about it because the way they have played is just not top-notch football.

Do they even care? Ya know what I think happened? They go into this game thinking "oh, it's the Rams, this is a mark in the win column easily." They never seem to win the games they should and to me, that has to be because of their mindset.

Red zone performance was embarrassing, I'm not sure what the numbers are exactly, but we shoulda had about 21 points out of drives instead of nine. Third downs was another problem, I think we were all of 1 for 10? Yeah...

Defense, where do I start? First of all, coming into this season I hated the switch to 3-4 and the past two weeks have reminded me why. They were supposed to cause turnovers, we have all of like, what, two or three? The secondary can't tackle, Deangelo Hall embarrassed himself, after all, this is "his defense." Every converted play for the Rams went to his side where you saw him slipping or just anything from stopping them really.

Man oh man, normally I keep my cool and say it's alright, but today there were so few positives I just gotta be truthful and say this team has a lot of work to do.

Oh, what happened to Portis?! The man was having the best numbers statistically he's had in a very long time, and the coach yanks him? Then Torain comes and fills in with a satisfactory performance, but suddenly, running the ball was no longer an option. 14 rushes for 90 yards, seems to work but yet you pass? Oh wait, I understand, you did it cause the defense played like a bunch of cupcakes.

Just a heads up everyone, Skins next four games may be the toughest span for any team in the NFL. Philly, Green Bay, Indy, and Chicago. I'm rooting for the Redskins just as much as any of you, but if they continue the type of energy they had today, prepare for a 1-6 record. Hmph...

Note to Skins: Leave this one in our dust, and prepare for a huge divisional game next week that the world will be hyping up all week long. Play your game, at YOUR level, and go out there and play some tough-nosed, brutal Redskins football.

Hail to the Redskins! Don't lose faith just yet, even though I may have started to, just hope this week was a one time thang and will never, ever, happen again.

bonehead move of the week

Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner! If that's what you wanna consider it anyway.

Okay so we all know what happened to Braylon Edwards early Tuesday morning. Oh wait, you don't?

Okay well just to sum it up, he got pulled over and arrested at about 4:45 a.m. for driving drunk. He was with two teammates, D'Brickashaw Ferguson and Vernon Gholston, but they were in the backseat sooo no trouble for them!

Anyways to cut to the point, Edwards might get in trouble with the league, but is expected to play, not start, this coming Sunday night.

Here's the problem.

Last week, the Jets came out with a 24 hour car service for their players! Braylon ya knucklehead! What are you thinking?!

Too cool for it maybe? Wanna drive your nice Range Rover or whatever car you have? Plain and simple dude, you drive drunk, you in big trouble Sally.

Besides haven't you seen the commercial "Over the limit, under arrest"?

I can't get over this, the team is smart and tries to protect their players, but they don't care and still do anything to risk their reputation, money, and playing time.

The car service has all types of goodies too. Talkin' about limos with satellite TV, Ipod components, the whole shabang.

It's free, run by former cops, and just smart. Guess the three Jets players are too worried about other things.

Redskins vs Texans Reaction

First and foremost...I'm back! After a six month hiatus, I'm glad to be back into action and write about all the smart, boneheaded, and of course Redskins stories I can. Now without further ado, let's get it poppin.

...Starting with the Washington Redskins baby!

Wellp, we took a loss this week. Obvious now, right? Some of us are probably blaming it on the kicker. Or maybe the secondary... AKA me. But as I think about it now, the Redskins were able to show a lot of positives in this game.

I saw something in the offense today I haven't seen in years! McNabb threw for 426 yards with two plays of 60+ yards. Not to mention, six of the eight players who had a reception, caught one of at least 20 or more yards. Moss, with a longest catch of 13 yards, and Keiland Williams, longest of seven, were the only two without a catch of at least twenty yards. Impressive? Yes ma'am.

Now, the only problem with that is, the Texans pretty much matched that. Five of their eight players with receptions had a play of twenty plus yards as well. The secondary could not keep up with Andre Johnson or Kevin Walter to save their lives. When we played zone, they hit Johnson in one on one match-ups easily. When we doubled Johnson, Walter took over. Defense just couldn't really find a handle on it...497 passing yards. Dang.

Yes, we lost this game, but now I'm already worried about something other then the loss. Trent Williams, 4th overall pick in the draft, left in the game with about a minute left in regulation. He is now scheduled for an MRI and the seriousness of the injury is completely unknown for now. All I'm sayin is- this could be a huge problem. Heyer filled in for the rookie, but immediately had a holding call and was finding trouble protecting McNabb's blindside. I'll wait for further news about this, but for now, oh boy.

St. Louis Rams will be host the 'Skins next week as they search for their first win. Yes, the Rams are winless, but they are no longer the team they were last year. Bradford has been impressive and Steven Jackson still roams the backfield, and he has been known to give the Redskins some problems.

Until then, if you're a Redskins fan, be proud for now. The offense seems fixed and is clicking better then ever, while the defense just needs to work out a few kinks.

top 10 reasons to play sports in washington dc

So recently, many players have left DC for new homes in all different sports. The Redskins let go of ten veterans, the Wizards recently let go of some of their top talents, and the Georgetown University is having trouble in basketball this year due to lack of recruiting.

So, in order to bring in some new names, I decided to make a little list of all the reasons D.C. is the place to be when it comes to playing a professional, or collegiate, sport.

Top 10 Reasons to Play Pro Sports in Washington

#10. Hellloooooo, Real World D.C. was just there! Okay so it's not a huge deal to athletes, but really, not many Real World towns have five major sport sporting teams such as D.C.. Just sayin.

#9. Can anybody really hate the capital of the United States?! Besides those losers from Dallas for football and Pittsburgh for hockey, who can really hate us? It seems like every time we have some type of story going for us, the world is watching and cheering us on.

#8. Unfortunately Gilbert Arenas didn’t understand this but, there are no guns aloud in the city! Safety is somewhat guaranteed. Well, just assume that anyway.

#7. I can’t even begin to count how many news stations cover D.C. sports. Not to mention all the newspapers and journals and websites... It's BLOG CITY! If you play in Washington, you’re an instant star and pretty much equal to Obama.

#6. Two words, one name. Alexander Ovechkin. The man is clutch and is possibly the best hockey player of all time. He doesn’t shy down from competition and makes plays his heart out every night. Doesn’t get any more thrilling.

#5. From what I’ve seen, Washington fans are the most loyal out there. Year after year we face harsh criticism and the sadness of lost hope but never do we give up on our teams. Ever.

#4. One thing I’ve come to learn is the D.C. media will hype you up no matter how good or bad you are. You’ll feel like a king and will beg for more money just because you THINK you got skills.

#3. Simple fact people, its Washington D.C.! The country’s capital! Monuments galore, the president is down the street, history beyond belief. What else can you ask for in a city?!

#2. President Obama will bail you out of anything. You might also get to play with him since he loves sports so much. You’re going to pass up a chance to play basketball with the President of the United States? I think not.

#1. Last but not least, the winning history of this town is like no other. 11 league championships, five major men’s teams along with two woman’s teams, and numerous amount of conference contending colleges. You want a ring? Or a peek at a championship trophy? Come to D.C., you will find all that you’re looking for.

So free agents of all sports, come to D.C.! If these reasons aren’t good enough for you, screw you. You don’t deserve this town or these fans anyway.

two former superstars in one octogon

Ever heard of Jose Canseco? How bout Herschel Walker? Okay now do you know what MMA is, or cage fighting, or UFC? Well if so, you may have heard this news by now, but it’s new to me.

Jose Canseco is former MLB outfielder turned steroid lover. He was a six-time all-star selection and wears two world series rings from 1989 and 2000. But after he retired in 2001, his career seemed to be overshadowed by his admittance of steroid use. He admitted it in his book Juiced which also cited big names such as A-Rod and Mark McGwire.

Herschel Walker currently holds the 1982 Heisman Trophy from one of his outstanding seasons with the University of Georgia. Sure, his NFL career wasn’t anything too special but he did manage to get 61 touchdowns and reach two pro bowls. Yippee.

Anyway, the real story lies with their current lives. Both do MMA, aka mixed martial arts. Jose is 0-1... lost to some Japan guy. Herschel is 1-0, easily knocking out some dude from Hungary in the third round.

Jose, being the big meaty “tough guy” he is, decides to call out Herschel…on Twitter. Oh how intimidating that is. He said “I guess I may have to show Herschel Walker who the real bad Boy of the Sports industry is”.

Herschel soon replied strictly saying “I will hurt him” and he mentioned how MMA is no joke to him.

Jose is 45 years old, Herschel is 48. Jose lost in 77 seconds in his debut, Herschel showed no fear or patience in his winning debut which lasted three rounds. My prediction…Herschel easily.

However, no fight date has been made yet. I’m pretty sure a lot of people would be interested though. I’d look out for it sometime soon. Nothing gets bigger than two former athletes getting into a fight inside of a ring where you can’t get kicked out.

It is serious though! It’s not a joke made by either of the two fighters. Soooo be ready people!

ron artest has ridiculous hair

For a couple years now, it seems like athletes have taken new hair fads into their own hands. Making patterns, stripes, just weird styles, anything, athletes know the deal when it comes to hair cuts.

But there is one NBA player who is more “in” than anybody else. Ron Artest, member of the L.A. Lakers, has had different hair styles for years now. Imprinting his teams name, pictures, tribal art, literally anything you can think of, this man has probably had on his head.

Crazy right?

Well it gets even crazier. Sunday was the finals rematch from last year where the Lakers headed to Orlando to face the Magic. High profile game, two NBA stars, highly advertised to fans, it doesn’t get much more exciting than that. Except when you include Mr. Ron Artest.

The man decided to resemble Dennis Rodman with his own little unique style to it. He bleached his hair yellow, as I would call it, and had some type of purple writing involved.

He had the word “defense” in three different languages cut and dyed into his head. The languages were Japanese, Hebrew, and Hindi.

I’ll tell ya what, I don’t know if anybody can out-do this mans 'do. It’s awesome what this guy thinks of to cut into his head. Just another way for people to show their style other than their clothes.

I’m waiting for him to change his name like Ochocinco did, or come out with some type of basketball shoes that have as much flash as his hair.

Step up the game people! If you know of somebody with more flare than Artest, shoot me a picture of him or her. Cause I’d love to see what can beat this.

It has come to my attention the Redskins have released half the team including some players who I consider to be the heart of soul of D.C..

When I first read this, I thought it had to be a joke. My granddad texted me asking if I wanted his Randle El jersey and I had no idea what he was talking about…until his next text.

I couldn’t believe it! Then as he went through the list of players my jaw dropped more and more. Some of the most fun and fan-loving players on the team had been let go.

Not to mention it seems like most of these guys have been in Washington for forever. Rock has seemed to be the heart of the team, while guys like Fred and Antwaan always kept the team and the fans smiling, at least me anyway.

Maybe this is all just a joke after all and they just wanted to shake things up a bit? Yeah, I’m gonna go with that. Because until I see these guys in a different colored uniform, they’re still Skins.

ocho cinco drops cleats for dancing shoes

So since Chad Ochocinco can no longer celebrate the way he wants to, he’s putting things into his own hands The flashy football star has recently been named to be on “Dancing with the Stars”.

First of all, I love it! The man is brilliant when it comes to having fun and making the fans happy. He has his own mini online television network (OCNN) and always tells the fans through Twitter and Facebook to play him on Call of Duty. BTW his name is Estaban 85.

Since 2006, Roger Goodell completely banned the use of celebrations with a prop or excessive celebration. So the players have had to get in the end zone and just huddle with joy, or maybe do some type of an individual dance move. Still, it’s very boring!

Now that Ochocinco is in the lineup for “Dancing with the Stars”, I plan on watching the show for the first time in my life. He brings fun, flare, creativity, jokes, everything! This man is everything when it comes to making sports fun to watch.

Not to mention I’m ready to see what suits or outfits this guy wears on the show. Maybe he’ll bring back his future hall of fame coat? Or his alligator skin cleats?!

Either way you look at it, this season of “Dancing with the Stars” may be the biggest yet. Other former or current athletes include gold medalist Evan Lysacek and ESPN reporter Erin Andrews. I’m sure the sporting world would love to see her after her nude video through a peephole not too long ago.

I can’t believe I’m this excited for a show I’ve always called stupid. Oops. Hopefully this doesn’t hurt Chads career as it did to Jason Taylor about two years ago.

ian poulter gives one extra little birdie

This past weekend was just any other golf outing without Tiger Woods. But something did manage to catch the medias eye.

Ian Poulter, basically a no-name golfer from England, had a quick and not so subtle message for the fans.

After he missed a gimmie, 5-foot putt, a few boo’s rang from the crowd. Not something this polite Englishman was used to I’m sure.

So what does he do? Well, he grabs his ball after he finally sinks it, claps and acknowledges the crowd, but then had some random itch on his face…according to him.

He slowly reached up to his face, lifted his middle finger, and held it there for a little too long. Long enough for basically everyone to catch it, and definitely long enough for the world to think how much of a poor loser this guy is.

Hey dude, if you can’t take the heat, go play croquet or something where people could care less. Except who cares about golf if Tiger isn’t there? Not meeee.

The PGA ratings have gone down 55% from last year, plus CBS and NBC contracts expire in the coming year. Whose going to place negotiations when simply nobody cares?

Well, I guess Tiger isn’t the only one without self-control.

caron butler is an addict

How many of you like to chew on a straw when you get the chance? You finish sipping on your drink for Mickie D’s and next thing you know, your straw is all bent up, chewed, just plain nasty!

Well, Caron Butler, former Wizard recently turned Maverick, has a very serious addiction. I’m talkin' maybe more serious than cigarettes. No, but really..

Supposedly Caron Butler averages 60 straws a day! He chews 60, maybe more, straws a day! I kid you not. And his favorite seems to be McDonald's.

But now, it seems his addiction has become all too serious. The NBA has banned Butler from any further straw chewing. Possible? Guess so.

Supposedly it’s a “safety issue” according to the senior vice president of basketball communications Tim Frank. I guess kids will see this and start doing it and they’ll choke and die and yeah. I’m not buyin it.

Yes I care about kids safety and all that, but it’s a straw! He’s been doing it for years! Kids do it growing up anyway! They’re not gonna stop cause Caron Butler has to!

Let the man chew his straws is all I have to say. It’s not steroids, guns in lockers, or fights in the stands. Just let it go! The NBA should be worried about much more serious issues right now.

wvu proves its bad reputation

For years, the West Virginia Mountaineer fans have been considered to be one of the worst in the nation. As a fellow Mountaineer, I know first hand exactly why this reputation has come to be.

At football games in the student lower section, when the other team warms up right in front of us, there isn’t a single minute where a fan isn’t trying to embarrass or call out a player. I mean, it’s unbelievable what some fans say about these players and all the players do is look up and laugh.

One player from Colorado did acknowledge us by flipping us his lovely bird, though... But that’s beside the point!

This past Wednesday night, as Pitt headed into WVU for the Backyard Brawl, fans made sure they lived up to the name.

While the Mountaineers were up by over ten points, one bad foul was called on WVU and the fans lose their minds. Throwing towels, cups or bottles filled with who knows what…(WVU is the 6th party school in the nation so take a guess at what it’s filled with).

This even made Coach Huggins grab a mic and say a few words to his home crowd.

The worst part is, it wasn’t just the throwing things on the floor that was bad. Somebody hit a Pitt assistant coach with a half dollar coin right in the noggin! Right smack on the side of his dome.

I think the funny thing is, the coin didn’t even come from the student section! It came from an ordinary section meaning some old 60 year old alum could have done it! That’s awesome people.

Anyway, the Mountaineers are already planning something so the nation gets off our @$$! On Monday we play the #2 team in the country, Villanova. What do we plan on doing? Bringing back the class by having every single student in the stadium wear a suit. So watch the game! And definitely listen to what ESPN has to say afterward. It shall be a good one!

tiger woods is back on the prowl

Anybody know where in the world Tiger Woods has disappeared to? One minute the man is in Arizona talking to one counselor and the next he’s in Mississippi talking to another.

What happened to this guys life!? I can tell ya, it went straight down the drain that’s where it went.

....Except Tiger is supposed to make his “debut”, if that’s what you want to call it, in just under two weeks in Arizona! What?!

I’m confused with this man. He’s up and down and refuses to talk about what happened, but he’s about to just jump straight back into things like nothing happened. Cmon man!

If I was him, I would at least make an appearance with his dear friend Oprah or just put myself in front of some camera before I try and play golf without any distractions. We all know the real story will be how he reacts to media and not the way he plays.

Last year Tiger Woods came back from his injury in this same tournament, which I believe is six or seven weeks before the Masters. Yes, it gives him time to warm up to the media and regain his skills, but I just feel like he’s rushing it all.

Either way, look for the man to be back in two weeks and also, leave the man alone! Everyone makes mistakes. Besides... all he does with his life is swing clubs. Let him be!

wildcard weekend predictions

Okay, first of all, I'm sorry for taking this long to put up a post! I wrote a few articles earlier in the week but ran into a few technical difficulties and just, yeah. Too many problems.

But now, it's playoff time baby! "You talkin playoffs?! Playoffs?!"

Three of this weekends games are rematches from week 17. They are completely different though seeing as now they are playing for their football lives and not just a certain seed in the playoffs or not even playing for anything.

And away we go

New York Jets at Cincinnati Bengals
Yes the Jets embarrassed the Bengals this past Sunday 37-0, but let's face it, the Bengals really had nothing to play for. The Bengals have been a solid team all year besides a few games where just everything went wrong. The Jets rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez makes too many mistakes and is just inexperienced. Bengals win.

Philadelphia Eagles at Dallas Cowboys
Well, originally I had the Eagles reaching the super bowl, but that was before week 17. Now they're playing a Dallas Cowboys team who hasn't allowed a single point in their last eight quarters of football. They are as good as any team in the league recently which is why I have changed my super bowl predictions. Dallas wins.

Baltimore Ravens at New England Patriots
Wes Welker is out for the post season, Randy Moss didn't practice today, what's next? Tom Brady getting hurt? Baltimore had one hell of a week in week 17 and I'm looking for them to keep rollin. Ravens win.

Green Bay Packers at Arizona Cardinals
Arizona is once again in the spot they were last year due to an easy division. Could they make a run? yes. Will they do it all over again? No way. The Packers and Aaron Rodgers need to level out the air and passing attack to keep the Cardinals defense in question while the Packers defense can't allow any big plays. Packers win.

There ya have it folks. This is just the beginning to what should be one crazy month in the world of playoff football. I'm waiting to see who the slacking Saints will have to play and if they'll even stand a chance, because if they continue playing the way they have...big problems.

lebron the fry snatcher

During Sunday Nights game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Lebron James decided not only to put the game into his own hands, but also somebody’s French fries!

First of all, its mean enough to steal the ball from the home team and score the basket, but then take some fans food right out of their lap! Come on man!

I get it Lebron, you’re the king of basketball. But not a man’s food!

Actually, if some top notch player took some of my food out of my hand, heck, I’d brag about it for the rest of my life! Definitely a story for the future grandkids.

At least he gave a high five to the guy, whose greasy fingers must have helped Lebron put up 44 points and seven rebounds.

Yo Lebron! Did you at least say please? Otherwise your mama can’t be too proud.

nfl cheat sheet: week 14

What’s up people!

Time is winding down for teams to reach the playoffs and boy do I love every minute of it. Technically, playoffs have already started for some teams, such as the Steelers, Titans, and even the Giants.

For others, it’s a race to the top pick in next years NFL draft. The Heisman Trophy presentation is this weekend and more and more players are declaring for the NFL. So do you win for pride? Or do you lose for first pick?

Time for business.

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Cleveland Browns
The Steelers have now lost four straight, which I believe is the most since 2006. The Browns however haven’t won at home in ten tries. Brady Quinn has seven TD’s and not a single pick since he returned as a starter. That’s not enough for me. Steelers win.

New Orleans Saints at Atlanta Falcons
Man oh man did the Saints get lucky last week. Just another reminder anything is possible in the NFL. Falcons could be their toughest test all year, and it’s not much of a test for the Saints. I believe it’s destiny after last week. Saints win.

Detroit Lions at Baltimore Ravens
Detroit is sticking with Matt Stafford as their quarterback which is probably best for them in the long run. Not now though, I have always said he won’t be very successful until maybe way later. Ravens win.

Green Bay Packers at Chicago Bears
Chicago is three games behind Green Bay, who is second in the division. Sure, Chicago has a chance for the playoffs but I don’t believe they can do it with how good the NFC is this year. Green Bay wins.

Seattle Seahawks at Houston Texans
Steve Slaton was put on the IR this week which could help the team cause he hasn’t done much of anything this year. Texans win.

Denver Broncos at Indianapolis Colts
Jim Sorgi was placed on the IR as well this week, but he’s the backup to Peyton Manning. How does a second string QB who never plays get hurt bad enough for the IR? Broncos have seemed to get back on track, but come on people, it’s the colts. Indy wins.

Miami Dolphins at Jacksonville Jaguars
Jacksonville is probably my biggest of the year. They came out of no where and I still have yet to hear much about them. Dolphins coming off an impressive win, they’ll do it again. Dolphins win.

Buffalo Bills at Kansas City Chiefs
Both teams find a way to lose more than often. Maybe it’ll be a “who can score less” type of game considering that draft pick is up for grabs! Chiefs win.

This may not be too intriguing, but nothing else is really that great. Combined these teams have five losses and are pretty set for playoffs. Who wins you ask? Vikings.

The Titans were unable to pull off the upset last week, but with a little help from other teams and victories over their somewhat tough remaining schedule, playoffs could be in the picture. Titans win.

Washington Redskins at Oakland Raiders
My theory didn’t work last week about picking the opposite team and Redskins winning. But the Redskins are still a much better team than they were at the beginning of the season. They should be 6-6! Suisham is gone though thank the Lord. Redskins win!

San Diego Chargers at Dallas Cowboys
Chargers continue to be one of the hottest teams in the league. If the season were end today, they’d have home field advantage unless the face the Colts. Chargers win.

Philadelphia Eagles at New York Giants
The Giants need this win more than any other game yet this season. If they pull it off, they’ll pull ahead of the Eagles in the playoff race as they have a better divisional record. Giants win.

Arizona Cardinals at San Francisco
Arizona has yet to be recognized this year even though they are 8-4 and upset the Vikings last week. Maybe a little prime time television will allow the world to see this team could make another late season run. Cardinals win.

Finished! Now last week I was 9-7, not very satisfying. The upsets I picked didn’t happen, and the easy wins I thought were losses. Oh well what can ya do. Don’t forget its about playoff time so keep your eye out for some pretty great football.

Can you guess what this is about?

If you guessed Chad Ochocinco changing his name yet again, you're correct. The man who is in love with himself and his number has decided to go a step further, once again.

The man seems to do anything and everything in order to entertain fans. He said his reasoning for the new name is because fans in Japan really enjoy his style and have been trying to convince him to go from Mexican to Japanese.

“Hachi Go” of course means eight five as does Ochocinco. My question to Chad is, what’re you gonna do on the sideline to show your Japanese side? This past week you wore a sombrero and a poncho, but what would do for Japan?

I love what Ochocinco continues to do within the league. He got fined $30,000 for his sideline fashion show, and brushed it off as if it was nothing. He loves to have fun and won’t let any fine hold him back.

My message to Goodell: Dude! Let the players have fun for once! The NFL is simply for entertainment of viewers, and nothing is more entertaining right now than Ochocinco himself.

skins vs saints: my reaction, because you care

Well, the Washington Redskins stayed on track this week as they lost another “should have won” game. They lost to the undefeated New Orleans Saints in overtime after one hell of a game.

So many things happened in this game that were simply unlucky for the Redskins. It almost seems as if the Saints remaining undefeated was destiny or just meant to be. It just makes me sick to look at the final score and see the Redskins lose yet another when they should have won.

I think it’s safe to say the Redskins won the game if you weren’t to look at the scoreboard. They consistently stopped the Saints in the red zone and were able to move the ball up and down field all day long.

Unlucky has to be the theme of the Redskins from yesterday’s game. The punt where it hit Kevin Barnes back and gave the Saints the ball. Kareem Moore’s interception which was stripped by Robert Meachem who scored the touchdown to tie it. Jason Campbell’s interception, and Mike Sellers “fumble”.

The one thing that wasn’t unlucky, and was just embarrassing and terrible, was Shaun Suisham’s missed 23 yard field goal. It would have put the Redskins up by 10 points, which is at least two possesions, with under two minutes left. But no, the unreliable kicker failed to make a clutch kick yet again (he missed two kicks against the Cowboys which ultimately was the difference of that game).

Then the Mike Sellers fumble in OT which I can’t decide if it was a fumble or not, but there is just no other word then unlucky.

A lot of positives came out of this game. For one, Jason Campbell threw for 367 yards (career high), and three touchdowns (which tied a career high). Devin Thomas also had career numbers with 100 receiving yards and two scores.

In case you didn’t know, Garrett Hartley, the guy who kicked the game winning field goal, has used steroids. He was suspended earlier this year for four games due to the use of steroids. Just makes the loss feel that much worse.

Redskins play Oakland next week, who beat the Steelers today. No guaranteed wins in the NFL people, not a single one.

Hola mi amigos! Back for another edition of Mikey P.’s expert advice I see. I’m glad you could make it!

For some teams, it’s do or die time. For others, it’s “who cares we’re already in the playoffs” time. Either way you look at it, it’s still football, the best sport on the face of the planet! Not much exciting news this week, Adrian Peterson got pulled over, two workers fell on the Cowboys Stadium roof, and Lebron James made the best of his life by throwing a football full court into a basketball hoop. Somebody sign the man up!

Pick time!

New York Jets at Buffalo Bills
Thursday night game in which you’re too late in reading this. They’re playing in Canada cause Goodell just hates playing games in the U.S. where they belong. T.O. stinks, Darrell Revis is the man. Jets win.

Philadelphia Eagles at Atlanta Falcons
Matt Ryan is out and Michael Turner is highly questionable. Your going to count on the Falcons defense winning this game. Not smart. Eagles win.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Carolina Panthers
Jake Delhomme is out with a finger injury which means Matt Moore gets the start. I don’t know if this is good or bad for the Panthers. I could be wrong, but I’m going with Carolina on this one. Panthers win.

St. Louis Rams at Chicago Bears
Cutler has thrown 20 interceptions and it probably isn’t a good thing the Bears have one of the worst rushing attacks in the league. Luckily for them, they play the lousy Rams. Bears win.

Detroit Lions at Cincinnati Bengals
I’m proud of Detroit this year. They’ve won a couple games and have scored enough points consistently in order to win more. The Bengals lost to Oakland a few weeks ago, but they were on the road. Possible upset, maybe. But I don’t think so. Bengals win.

GAME OF THE WEEK
Tennessee Titans at Indianapolis Colts
If you’re wondering why this is the game of the week, that’s fair. Sure, Titans are 5-6 and the Colts are undefeated. But the Titans are hotter than ever right now. I believe in the team more than any other team right now. The Colts are 15th in the league allowing 108 rushing yards per game while the Titans run for over 160 a game. I just have a feeling we’ll be watching an upset this week. Titans win!
Houston Texans at Jacksonville Jaguars
Houston is a long way from the 5-3 record they were a few weeks ago. Jacksonville is only a game ahead of them in the race for the wildcard. Texans want payback for their week three loss at home. Texans win.

Denver Broncos at Kansas City Chiefs
The Broncos finally got back on track against the Giants and haven’t played since Thanksgiving. The Chiefs are still the Chiefs we know best. Broncos win.
New England Patriots at Miami Dolphins
I love these AFC East games. It just seems like there is always some sort of drama involved which makes it more interesting. New England got embarrassed Monday Night in New Orleans. They need a win. Patriots win.

Oakland Raiders at Pittsburgh Steelers
This is exactly what the Steelers need after dropping three in a row. A game at home against Oakland is basically an early Christmas. Steelers win.

New Orleans Saints at Washington Redskins
Okay I have realized something. Whenever I pick the Redskins to win, they lose. And when I pick them to lose, the win. Therefore, I’m picking the Saints this week, even though I have 100% faith in my Skins. So let’s hope this works. Saints win.

San Diego Chargers at Cleveland Browns
The Chargers have become one of the hottest teams in the league, without a doubt one of the top five teams right now. Cleveland, one of the five worst teams. Chargers win!

Dallas Cowboys at New York Giants
Ahhh, a rivalry renewed. The Cowboys were embarrassed in their stadium opener as the Giants won by two points. The Giants have since been struggling to beat teams with winning records. Cowboys win.

San Francisco 49ers at Seattle Seahawks
I feel like I haven’t seen a single game, if even highlights, on national tv or the Seahawks. Finally I read something this week about former coach Mike Holmgren possibly returning. Frank Gore had a field day earlier in the year, look for another one. 49ers win.

Minnesota Vikings at Arizona Cardinals
This could be a tough contest for the Vikings. And Adrian Peterson was going 109 miles per hour this week and said he didn’t realize it was that fast. What?! Probably cause of how fast the dude runs. Vikings win.

Baltimore Ravens at Green Packers
Ray Rice, the second year man out of Rutgers, has turned up the heat in Baltimore. He has at least 100 yards from scrimmage in eight consecutive games and makes fantasy owners really happy, like me! But, he’s only one guy. There are 10 more guys that need to get the job done. Packers win.

Last week I was a pretty solid 11-5. If I wouldn’t have listened to some idiot on TV late Wednesday night I would have been better off. So from now on, I’m going with what I think and nobody else!

Have a fun, football filled weekend everybody. Be sure to watch the SEC Championship too! Alabama and Florida, one and two, doesn’t get any better.

nets win worst team ever award

Alright, it’s official. The New Jersey Nets are the worst team in basketball…ever. They lost to the Dallas Mavericks the other night 117-101 to head to 0-18, the worst starting record for a team in the 60 year history of the league.

They passed the ‘88-89 Miami Heat and the 1999 Los Angeles Clippers who had previously been tied for the worst beginning record with only 17 losses... Except this isn’t something you want to be “better” at.

It amazes me how a team can’t win a single game in 18 tries! Yes, we all know the Lions did it, but that’s football which is a completely different story.

The Nets don’t exactly have great players, but they have a lineup which should be able to make a few tweaks in order to give the team a few wins.

Brook Lopez, a second year man out of Stanford, leads the team in points per game, blocks, and rebounds. Not to mention the players leading the team in most categories have just five years of experience or less.

The team is definitely young and will improve I’m sure. I’m even willing to bet they finish the year with a record better than the Minnesota Timberwolves who are as ugly as anybody right now.

The Nets have somewhat of an easy schedule ahead of them. The combined record of the next five teams they face is 29-53. The toughest competition of those games comes against the Charlotte Bobcats tonight.

So yes, they’ve embarrassed themselves this far, but I’m pretty sure things are on the uphill slope for the Nets.

Oh boy people, this video here completely baffles me and I seriously don’t even want to know what in the world happened to this poor fella.

Florida State offensive lineman Zebrie Sanders decided to take a play off Saturday, but not leave the field. Check it out.

Dude! What’s goin on?! I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s what he was thinking too while the play was happening.

Look! Players are flying by him, trying to kill the quarterback who, as Keyshawn Johnson put it, “is running for his life!”. I think it’s hilarious!

I really don’t think the guy has any clue to what is happening. I don’t know if there was a nice little bug in the grass, maybe they were playing a good ol’ game of freeze tag? Who knows!

I get if your trying to stand still as if the other team jumped offsides, but not the entire play! Imagine what the quarterback was thinking as he runs by him. I probably would have been scared, thinking something is going on I don’t know about. But then the 250 pound linebacker would clobber me. Not good.

Earth to Zebrie! It’s time to wake up! Don’t leave your QB to die. Okay?

artest's halftime party

Forget about tweeting about halftime, Ron Artest has officially raised the bar on what to do during halftime.

He went and told Sporting News how he used to drink liquor, Hennessy to be specific, during halftime of his first few seasons into the league while he was with the Chicago Bulls.

…WHAT?! Liquor during halftime! Now first of all, I don’t have any clue how the Bulls didn’t recognize this or if they just didn’t do anything about it.

Secondly, I’ll be waiting to see if there is a fine coming from the league or not. Artest has already been suspended from the league for 73 games during the 04-05 season if you don’t remember his crazy brawl with fans in Detroit.

Quite honestly, I think it’s hilarious. The guy couldn’t care less about what the sports world thinks of him and his actions.

For now, he’s on the Championship Lakers team who continues to dominate by having the best record in basketball.

vince young and the high five

**Note from elizabethany: Mikey P totally sent this to me on Tuesday, but I'm a terrible sister and didn't get it posted until now. Woopsies, sowwy. BUT! Soon he'll be posting them himself.**

After kneeling down for a final time Monday night, Vince Young walked off the field as any player would. But he added a little zing to his exit.

As he turned around to head off the field, he crossed paths with one of the referees and simply put up his hand giving the sign for a high five.

Now if I was a ref, I’m pretty sure it’s not a good thing to high five a player so I’d have to turn down Vince on the offer. But noooo, not this zebra! He held his hand high and proud as he clapped palms with Young.

His name is Jerome Boger and unfortunately he’ll probably receive a fine or some type of punishment from the league since Roger Goodell is such a pansy on having fun.

Vince Young is a happy man after winning four in a row since he was announced the starter. He’s also won eight in a row as a starter dating back to..... A long time ago.

P.S. The NFL released a statement earlier this week saying how the referee did not mean to give the high five. He said Boger was giving an ordinary signal, just as he would for any other play, but Vince went up for the high five as the signal was being given.

Giants finally got out of their four game slump and won in OT. Denver has lost four straight and got bullied by the Chargers. Giants win.

Michael Turner returned to practice this week which I’m sure is a great boost of confidence for the entire team. Tampa Bay is…well, still Tampa Bay. Falcons win.
Miami Dolphins at Buffalo Bills
Ricky Williams proved he could fill the spot of Ronnie Brown as he ran four two TD’s as well as caught one. Buffalo Bills spent all week trying to get Mike Shanahan, not focusing on game day. Dolphins win.

Right when the Bengals start to gain my respect, they lose to the Raiders. Come on man. I’m not so sure if I can trust this team yet. But they are playing the Browns this week who lost to the Lions. Oh boy. Bengals win.

I don’t care where you are, what you’re doin, or who you’re with, you better be in front of a TV screen turned to ESPN for this game. Definitely a possible Super Bowl preview. The Saints are lucky they’re at home cause otherwise I’d take New England. Still iffy and running through my mind. Saints win.

What’d I tell yall last week? If I remember correctly I asked you to trust me cause I did my research. If you didn’t, not my fault! I went 12-4 and with the Bengals and Steelers losing, which I’m sure nobody saw coming, I’m pretty proud of myself. So hey, catch onto my opinion people!

jimmie johnson= his own dynasty

NASCAR’s Jimmie Johnson has officially become the most dominant racer the sport has ever seen. Although he finished fifth Sunday in the final race, it was easily enough for him to grab his fourth trophy.

Four championships in a row just seems out of this world. I’m pretty sure nobody else has ever done that... Ever. Not in any other sport, either.

I mean, Tiger Woods dominates and everybody knows him, but he has yet to win four championships in a row! No team in football or baseball or any other sport has yet to achieve what this man has.

If I was a driver, I would have wrecked the guy last night just to make the sport more interesting. The sport is already lacking viewers and if one guy wins it all every year, nobody is going to want to watch the same thing over and over again.

Imagine how great that would have been! Spin him out on the final laps, Mark Martin passes him in the race to take the lead! Man oh man that would have made my day!

But no, instead we watch one guy continue to win as if he’s using steroids or something... But last time I checked, steroids wouldn’t do much good sitting in a car and turning left for miles upon miles of racing.

Oh well. Maybe next year someone new will win, or maybe Johnson will be selfish and keep the sport all to himself.

nfl cheat sheet: week 11

How do ya do people? Ready for another week of sweet, awesome, and totally rad football?! Good!

First off, sorry for getting this out after the Dolphins-Panthers game. It’s just been a fairly busy week in Morgantown. But anyway, a lot of big things happened this week, and I mean A LOT! Ronnie Brown is out for the year (which really kills all my fantasy teams), fines were flying out of no where as usual, and Larry Johnson found a team!

Lets get to it, shall we?

Miami Dolphins at Carolina Panthers
Okay, technically as your reading this its already over, but right now I’m typing it and it hasn’t started quite yet! Ronnie Brown is out, Dolphins have no passing game. Panthers win.

Pittsburgh Steelers at Kansas City Chiefs
Chiefs lost LJ last week, and Dwayne Bowe this week to a suspension involving drugs. The Steelers are still the Steelers we know best. Steelers win

San Francisco 49ers at Green Bay Packers
Packers coming off a solid defense win last week over Dallas, while San Fran sticks to Frank Gore on offense. And if you didn’t know, Aaron Rogers has 229 rushing yards on 37 carries! Second on the team! That’s just awesome. Packers win

Cleveland Browns at Detroit Lions
Wow, game of the century here people. NOT! Who cares about this game, really. They’re so bad its tough to pick a winner buuuuut the Lions have stayed in games while the Browns simply can’t. Lions win.

New Orleans Saints at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Saints had a lot closer of a game last week than I think anyone expected. No way they can afford to let a team just as bad do it all over again. Saints win.

Atlanta Falcons at New York Giants
The Giants have lost four straight, weird after starting undefeated, but they finally had a nice break with their bye and my guess is they figured out their problems, I hope. Giants win.

Buffalo Bills at Jacksonville Jaguars
In case anyone forgot, yes Terrell Owens is still in the league. He still hasn’t caught a touchdown pass yet though…DOPE! Bills fired their coach and rumor is they want Bill Cowher. All we can do is wait. For now, Jaguars win.

Brett Favre has 17 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. Definitely not what I expected his numbers to be coming into the season. Vikings win.

Colts pulled off an incredible comeback against Brady and the Pats. And for a second Monday night, I thought the Browns might be the Ravens…yeah right. Colts are just too good all around. Colts win.

St. Louis was a catch away from upsetting the Saints last week! Weird how the NFL works huh. They’re still the Rams. Cardinals win.

New York Jets at New England Patriots
The Jets won in the first meeting 16-9, but that was when the Jets were making people think of an intercity Super Bowl. We’re in week eleven now, Jets aren’t exactly within any type of positive talking. Plus Rex Ryan cried this week…ouch. Patriots win.

Cincinnati Bengals at Oakland Raiders
Not many teams are hotter than the Bengals right now. If they can’t pull off the division this year, I’ll be upset. Stop fining Ochocinco! Who Dey?! Bengals win.

San Diego Chargers at Denver Broncos
For some reason I love this rivalry. Maybe cause of how into it Phillip Rivers gets and how he loves yelling. Plus it’s a battle for first in the AFC West. Chargers have gone nuts the past month while Denver has lost its place. Chargers win.

Tennessee is a completely different team since Vince Young was changed to starter. Not to mention they want payback after losing to Houston earlier in the year. Titans win.

new helmets= less concussions

Last week, Elizabethany shared a post on what could be the new Redskins helmet sometime in the future, and boy was it ugly.

But design is no longer what people are worrying about. Now it’s more about the safety of the players and trying to prevent head injuries.

The Xenith X1 football helmet is this new and improved helmet which seems pretty reliable if you ask me. Instead of foam inside the helmet, there are several “shock absorbers” which will prevent sudden impact injuries.

The shock absorbers are basically mini pumps of air within the helmet. Remember the Reebok Pump shoes back in the day? That’s basically what this is. [Oh and by the way, those Reeboks are making a comeback!]

...But anyway, the shocks are filled with air and when a player is hit, the air is released from the pump and quickly filled back up.

Most Recently, Brian Westbrook has suffered two concussions in as many games. This is becoming a major issue within the NFL and if you ask me, bring in the Xenith X1! I mean, it doesn’t look half bad and is proven to work, so why not?!

Not to mention the name is completely legit!

Tampa Bay won last week meaning there are no more winless teams within the NFL. The dolphins running attack is too tough for the Buccaneers to handle. Dolphins win.

Detroit Lions at Minnesota Vikings
Brett Favre seems to have a groin injury and there is a risk of not starting according to the coach. But you can’t snap that streak of 277 games starting in a row! Vikings win.

Jacksonville Jaguars at New York Jets
All Jacksonville really has is the ever so short Maurice Jones Drew, and the Jets have the defense that can stop anybody’s run game. J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS win.

Cincinnati Bengals at Pittsburgh Steelers
If the Bengals can get past this game with a win, it’s no doubt they should take the AFC North this year. I just feel like the Bengals aren’t consistent enough to pull out all these wins. Steelers win.

New Orleans Saints at St. Louis Rams
Steven Jackson is all the Rams have these days. Don’t be surprised if he is still running the ball when they’re down by 50 in the fourth quarter. Saints win.

Buffalo Bills at Tennessee Titans
Hey hey! The Titans seem to be a changed team ever since Vince Young was renamed the starter. Two wins in a row, they’ll make it three. Titans win.

Denver Broncos at Washington Redskins
Washington’s at home in front of a lot of disgruntled fans. Seats might be empty by the half. Denver’s lost two in a row, but the Redskins have lost four. Dangit! Sadly, the Broncos win.

Kansas City Chiefs at Oakland Raiders
If I watch this, I’ll probably feel like I’m watching a high school game. It’s going to be a mess, but probably funny if you want a good laugh. LJ is gone, therefore Raiders win.

Seattle Seahawks at Arizona Cardinals
Arizona stands atop the worst division in football at 5-3. Arizona is also 4-1 after the last five. Enough said. Cardinals win.

Dallas Cowboys at Green Bay Packers
Cowboys took over first last week while the Packers lost to the winless Bucs. Ouch. Cowboys win.

Philadelphia Eagles at San Diego Chargers
Believe it or not, this game is tough to choose a winner. San Diego has looked great recently winning their last three, and the Eagles offense is just so strong. Who to pick, who to pick! Uh uh uh, Chargers win!

GAME OF THE WEEK
New England Patriots at Indianapolis Colts
Seventh year in a row these two teams are getting together. I really wish they could be in the same division with how great the rivalry has become. Expect another spectacular Manning vs. Brady match-up. For me, comes down to whose at home. Colts win.

Baltimore Ravens at Cleveland Browns
Let me get this straight, the Cleveland Browns are playing in front of the entire nation on Monday Night Football, and they’re at home! Is that a joke? I’m more interested in the dawg pound than the Browns. Ravens win.

Okay, last week might have been the worst picked week of my life. I was 6-7! Horrible, Terrible, pathetic, whatever you wanna call it, I agree. But I mean, Ron Jaworski, an NFL expert for ESPN was 6-6 so I’m allowed to be 6-7!

This week will be the rebound of all rebounds people! At least I hope so.

allen iverson: a retired man?

Allen Iverson, the former NBA MVP and ten time all-star selection, has taken an indefinite leave of absence due to “personal reasons”.

Iverson is playing on a struggling Grizzlies team and has already started a few issues among the team as he is unhappy about where he stands on the team.

Iverson used to be one of my favorite guys in the world. I mean, I bought a book about him, I had his shoes, I even stole this finger sweat band thing cause it has the AI symbol on it....
...But now, things have changed.

I still think he’s one of the more dominant players in the NBA given the chance to play how he wants. We all already know he doesn’t like practice from his speech a few years ago...
...But now it seems like he’s just causing more problems than anything. Memphis is his fourth home in four years- not good numbers.

Rumors are going around that Iverson could retire. Do I think he should? Yes I do. His glory days are in the past and it’s just time to let go. People should remember him for his basketball glory in Philly, not his lackluster performances in other places.

watch: football players gouge out eyes now

Alright, I’ve heard of a few things happening under the pile in a football game. Ya normally just get a few dirty words and maybe a pinch or a scratch.

But not the Florida Gators All-American Brandon Spikes. Nope. He took it to a whole other level Saturday as he tried gouging the eyes of Washaun Ealey during the Gators’ rout to victory Saturday.

Take a look for yourselves.

Now that’s just terrible! I mean, really dude? I really want to know what he has against the guy 'cuz you don’t just do that out of no where.

Originally Urban Meyer decided to only suspend Spikes for half a game…half a game! Are you kidding me?! A half a game for trying to smash your fingers into another guys eyeballs! Yeah, no big deal, he could just be blind for the rest of his life.

But I guess the media got to the head coach this week as he decided to change his suspension to an entire game. Big whoop, one game. I guess it’s better than a half.

Note to Spikes: Try not to ruin your career any further okay sunshine? Just play football.

what i have to say about the redskins: week 7

Well, I don’t even know what to say anymore about my beloved Washington Redskins. I mean, when someone tells me “Redskins suck!” I really can’t argue it like I used to.

They lost 27-17 but that last touchdown was handed to them as a sign of thanks by the Eagles. And once again, the Redskins score 17 points tying their season high which actually rises their average to 13.7 points per game.

Now, there were some positives I saw within the game, but very few. Players actually looked like they cared about the loss and the poor play of the team.

D. Hall tried chasing down DeSean Jackson for about 50 yards before Jackson reached the end zone, unlike last week when he barely nudged a player out of bounds. Devin Thomas never gave up and refused to go down a lot which really showed on a late 3rd down and 19 conversion. And of course Haynesworth and Fletcher impressed me as they should be.

As for the negatives I could go for days. I hate how the secondary continues to play 10 yards off the ball and then they stare into the backfield not knowing what is going on behind them. The offensive line stunk it up allowing six sacks on the day and a lot more hits on Jason Campbell. Speaking of Campbell, who I used to love, let’s just say I’m glad his contract is up after the year. He doesn’t work in the offense, he constantly throws to check down running backs and tight ends. SPREAD THE BALL!

Oh and also, it isn’t the play calling why the team sucks Mr. Snyder, it’s the players! Throwing interceptions, fumbling snaps, muffing punts and overall stupid mistakes. I just don’t get it.

Someone go give Snyder the swine flu so maybe it’ll knock some sense into the man. For now, we have the bye week and then the Atlanta Falcons to deal with.

Come on Redskins! Get back to playing Redskins football and not this mess you call football. I’m still rooting for you! Except yall made my roommate, who calls himself a ‘skins fan, put on a McNabb jersey at halftime. BOOOOO!

Hail to the Redskins! Keep faith and never stop showing your Redskins pride. We’ll get em’ in two weeks!

If you didn’t already know, Roger Goodell loves having teams play over in Europe. Why you ask? Nobody knows!

It started two years ago with the Giants facing the Dolphins, and again last year when the Saints beat the chargers 37-32. I guess people over in London love it because they completely pack the stadium to watch 60 minutes of high intensity football.

And now Goodell want to make it two regular season games over in London for the 2010 season! Are you kidding me?! I can’t stand this.

A lot of reasons I don’t like it. It takes away home games, players have to deal with jet-lag, it’s the “National” Football League not the “International” Football league, I could go on for days.

I just know it’s going to grow and grow because of how the people love it over there and continue to overfill the stadiums. The more it grows, the bigger the problem, that’s what I think of it.

Sooo Mr. Goodell, let’s keep the NFL where it is supposed to be…the U.S.!

Week 7? Already!? It can’t be…but it is. Couple of things to look out for this week include Bob Sanders back in the lineup for Indy and how the Redskins offense reacts under their new play caller in Sherman Lewis. Oh joy!

Indianapolis Colts at St. Louis Rams
Is there really anything to be said about this game? I mean, good luck Rams, try not to lost by more than 30. Colts win.

New England Patriots at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
59 point victory last week for the Patriots against a team who I think is better than Tampa Bay. Now the challenge for Tom Brady and crew is to break 60 against a not-so-hot team. Patriots win

GAME OF THE WEEK
Minnesota Vikings at Pittsburgh Steelers
Get excited folks! I know I am. The Undefeated Vikings head into the Steel City to face off against last years Super bowl Champs. Upset alert upset alert! Steelers win.

San Diego Chargers at Kansas City Chiefs
Chiefs are coming off their first win of the season and are looking to keep momentum going. But let’s not forget…they are the chiefs. Chargers win.

Green Bay Packers at Cleveland Browns
Yeah this will be a real exciting game….not! Someone find the Browns a quarterback! Packers win.

Michael Crabtree makes his NFL debut…finally. But Matt Schaub has been phenomenal and could really get this team going. Texans win.

Carolina’s starting to get back on track but it all starts with quarterback Jake Delhomme. Four touchdowns, ten interceptions…ouch. Panthers win.

Well Tom Cable isn’t in trouble with the law anymore, but Roger Goodell still has to make a decision if he wants to take action. Jets win.

Atlanta Falcons at Dallas Cowboys
This one isn’t a very easy choice. Although Atlanta’s offense has really seemed to click with Turner and Ryan. Falcons win.

Can anything slow down the Saints right now?! Maybe, just maybe, it’s the Wildcat. I don’t think so though, Saints are on a roll. Saints win.

If Arizona was as good as they were last year in the playoffs then maaaaybe I’d be excited…but they aren’t. Giants win.

Awesome. Now everybody in the nation gets to see first hand how bad my Skins are playing. Sherman Lewis goes from calling numbers in bingo to calling plays in the NFL. But hey, if the Raiders can do it, so can the Redskins. Redskins win baby!!!

I was a terrible 8-6 last week, but I know this week is going to be better... You can count on me!

snyder wants zorn to quit

As most of us already know, Jim Zorn was stripped of his play calling duties after the team lost to the winless Chiefs Sunday. Vinny Cerrato had highly encouraged Zorn to give up what Zorn loved most about his job. But the story goes a lot deeper than that.

Steve Largent, former Seahawks receiver when Zorn was a quarterback, told reporters recently that Zorn had seriously considered quitting his job as Redskins head coach. But he also said how “Jim’s not a quitter” so he simply could not leave the team.

But as speculations arise, a question is popping up into my mind. Was this a way for Daniel Snyder, owner of the Washington Redskins, to get Zorn to step down? It’s definitely a possibility as it would free him of any liability to Zorn’s three year contract.

The mind games continue to occur in Washington and who knows when it will all stop. From what I can tell, it will go on until either A) Snyder dies or resigns (please come sooner rather than later!). Or B) The Redskins clean house of all faculty and players as Bill Parcells did with the Dolphins.

For now, I have to live with being a Redskins fan and watching ESPN rag all over my team. Oh well, I’ll stand by the team till the day I die and I won’t stop wearing my Redskins gear even if they never win another game.

We all know Mr. Chad Ochocinco loves himself and will do anything to get the public in on what he’s up to at all times. From constant twitter updates to warning the press about his upcoming touchdown celebrations, the man always seems to amaze me.

But don’t just stop there, the man now has an iPod application all to himself. For $4.99 anybody with an iPhone or iTouch can have the “Chad Ochocinco Experience” application at the palm of their hands. Worth it?

Well the app comes with all sorts of insight into the life of Ochocinco. Here’s just a few…

Alright, I’m 18 years old and stand at a seemingly tall 6’1/ 6’2. My entire family is amazed by how I’m “so tall” and I “never stop growing”. But hold on a minute…

Andrew Wiggins, a young man aspiring to someday play in the NBA, stands a towering 6’6...and is only 13 years old! Yeah, 13! I mean, come on people, could this be true?

I mean his dad, Mitchell Wiggins, is only 6’3 and once played in the NBA. Sorry dad, but I’m pretty sure your 13 year old son is better than you.

I’m taking the Bengals in this one. They’re on a role, should be undefeated if it wasn’t for a last second remarkable play in week 1.

Purple vs. purple? Neat, but I’m hoping all over the Brett Favre bandwagon this year. Minnesota pulls out a close win to remain undefeated and have control of the NFC North.

GAME OF THE WEEK

Oh man, what to say, what to say. Two undefeated teams, two top of the line quarterbacks. Can it get any better?! It comes down to the play of the defense, and for that reason, I’m going with New York.

AFC North match-up. Cleveland’s too busy looking for answers while Pittsburgh comes out with a win, a big win.

Carolina Panthers at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
A year ago I would have loved this match-up, but in 2009 they have a combined record of 1-8...ouch! Carolina wins to go on a whooping 2 game winning streak! Congratulations.

Oh boy, don’t even get me started on my struggling Redskins. I do believe they’ll win this game, but not in convincing fashion. Redskins win.

St. Louis Rams at Jacksonville Jaguars
Another boring game, not much to say about it other than that. Jacksonville wins.

Arizona Cardinals at Seattle Seahawks
I’m upset with how the Cardinals have came out to start the year after a Super Bowl visit in February. Plus playing at Quest Field is no fun. Seahawks pull out a win.

Philadelphia Eagles at Oakland Raiders
Mike turned down a chance to visit his old dogs this week in Oakland. Maybe he’s focusing on winning? Too bad he doesn’t play. Eagles win.

Tennessee Titans at New England Patriots
Unfortunately the Titans schedule isn’t getting any easier. They go to an ever surprising 0-6 as the Patriots win in Foxborough.

Buffalo Bills at New York Jets
Rex Ryan is doing big things this year in New York. I really like the way he runs his team. The Bills could use a coach like him. Jets win easily.

Chicago Bears at Atlanta Falcons
Tough tough tough. The Falcons simply have too many weapons on offense to the point I don’t think they’ll be stopped. Atlanta goes to 4-1 with a win.

Denver Broncos at San Diego Chargers
These teams lie at the top of the AFC West. Josh McDaniels seems to have turned Denver around and last time they started 5-0, they went to the superbowl. Denver wins on the road.

Oh, and in case you knuckleheads were wondering, these teams have their bye week.

has vick really changed?!

The question on everyone’s mind as Mike Vick was reinstated into the NFL was if he had changed and if his apologies were real. The man tried his best to push out tears and convince the public he was no longer the pathetic dog fighter he was just two to three years ago.

But this week, as the Eagles head into Oakland to take on the desperate Raiders, Vick was given an opportunity to see eight of his former pit bulls. If only I could know what went through his head as this was presented to him.

Maybe he thought back to the dog hungry days of “having fun”? Maybe he was scared the dogs would try to hurt him for what he did (I know I would if I was one of those dogs). But whatever was going through his mind, he reached a decision.

Vick will not visit his dogs in Oakland as he seems to be forgetting his past and focusing on the present. Can we still be satisfied with his actions that might show he is no longer the man he once was? It’s all up in the air.

Oh, and just for the record- Vick has 18 total yards, 17 of which are rushing, and a quarterback rating of 39.6. Yeah, congratulations Eagles on a great pickup. Whatever happened to installing the Wildcat!? Maybe we’ll all get a peek this week as the Eagles play a Raiders team who’s head coach likes to throw assistant coaches around like rag dolls. OOPS!

Hey hey hey! What’s goin' on everybody?! I’m Mikey P! Unfortunately I happen to be the “little brother” of Miss Elizabethany herself. It’s a bit unfair I have to be considered the little brother even though I tower over her.

But anyway, I’m the sports guru of the family. Everything I do is sports, sports, sports, 100% of the time. I love it when someone tries telling me I’m wrong about something with sports, especially my sister! Because in the end she’s the one coming to me for advice.
